The interesting part is that Kooks cost mucho $$ in the first place... I don't know how Hyland can even think about upping the price for profit.

Kooks originally made the long tubes exclusively for SHMS. I bought mine from them in early 2003. You can get them for much less directly from Kooks now.

Lemme put it this way - SHM is about 1 - 1.5 hours away, and when I wanted to get my Lightning tuned, I drove to Pennsylvania. That would be in another country, and good day's drive... There's a reason why I wouldn't go there

Can you confirm this? I actually heard about the headers in early '03 before I bought the car. A few employees of JDM Engineering had mentioned that Kooks had developed the headers for one of JDM's customer cars. I know JDM and Kooks has a long time relationship. Kooks builds many headers that are ONLY available through JDM (Gen 1 & 2 Lightning, Cobra, etc...).
My jaw dropped at some of those prices.
Wow. Look around this site for pricing from vendors before gong with that guy.

I checked with Kooks long ago. Yes, they made these headers for SHM. They are not the same as the ones that Kooks sells now. They have larger primary tubes and I believe the collectors are larger. Kooks no longer makes headers in this size for the MM.

This correct Brian. We spoke with Kooks about working on a set for the Not So Secret Project Car and they said "No."
