I'm thinking of cutting the front springs. I've read this is better than the Eibach set...is this true? Few more questions:

Will the speed shop know how much to cut?
Can I adjust the rear height?
How does this effect the alignment and ride?

also, for those who have cut, any regrets?

Thanks
Sam

It's entirely up to you. I personally won't cut springs, but many do.
Make sure whoever does it uses a saw, not a torch, I wouldn't recommend much more than one coil.

The rear ride height can be adjusted, and if you are only looking for a lower front end, you might try [i]raising[/i[ the rear slightly first to see how that looks, before you get to cutting.

A cut-offf wheel on a pneumatic grinder will come in handy here too. A torch will ruin the spring rate of the spring and you will be left with a piece of junk if you go this route.

BTW: I am not a big fan of cut springs either.

Try to find a thread that Zack started, he had the Eibach's then switched to cut springs.

I'm running stock springs cut down a 3/4 of a coil. It lowered my car about an inch and handles better than stock and runs fine. I've been running them for 6 months and love the ride. Until there are some adjustable front shocks for our cars, I wouldn't recommend the eibach's. Had them on my car for 4 months and hated them.

I cut mine down using a cut off wheel and a spray bottle to keep the temps down while cutting the metal. You have to go VERY slowly and make sure the metal doesn't climb above lukewarm in temperatures...Having the spray bottle to assist will speed you up a bit, but take your time.

Zack recommends a 1 full coil cut, and I can say I disagree. If I did it again, I'd cut a full coil. Much of the stigma of cut coils comes from dumbasses not cutting them properly.

I went a full coil on mine,28"from the ground to the center of the fender lip.

The rear ride hieght is adjusted by repositioning the ride hieght sensor located on the left WATTS link arm, look for it just aft of the left muffler.
Realignmet is required after all spring mods.

Cut spings here, one full coil. Rear sensor set down as far as OEM possible. Added DR sway bar in rear, bushings only in the front. Replaced all 4 shocks at 20K with the OEM Tocokios, and tied it all together witha 4 wheel alignment. It's the best riding MM I've ever been in, but I don't spend much time in others.

Many members here have driven the KB#1x, ask them?

I had the privilege of riding in it, and have to say from the passenger seat it rode very well indeed.
