Can anyone tell me the warranty on the factory battery? Mine is approximately 18 mos old and has seen better days. IMO this battery failure is quite premature. Thanks

By chance do you have the underdrive pulleys?

Don't the UDP's run the alternator at like 80%?

I had the single UDP on my 99 SHO. Went through 2 batteries in 4 years.

FYI...The Steeda kit from Reinhart is only two pulleys, the altenator pulley is not changed.

I don't know if the Steeda dampner is actually calculated to 20% underdrive...but, even though you don't switch out the alternator pulley ('cause it's the same size and the Steeda one does not come with the cap/clutch "gears") you are certainly correct Five-O...if he had the Steedas, he would be "underdriving" the alternator.

The only time underdrive pulleys would be a contributing factor in premature battery failure would be in "police detail" type of use where there is a heavy electrical load (headlights, light bar, 4-way flashers, 2-way radio, computer, etc) with prolonged idling, and on a regular basis.

My first battery S.T.B. in less than 12 months so I moved from the stock 650CCA to an 825 CCA FoMoCo battery and haven't had any problems since.

I must admit that I am now likely to move to an Optima red top battery in connection with a few other mods to my car.

The battery on my 2000 CV HPP was replaced at four years. The green eye had gone dark but started OK. Just in case, changed it out with a BJs battery. Shouldn't our batteries last as long?
