 I'm sure this comes as no surprise to anyone but I am baffled once again. I have the nice new aftermarket transmission cooler sitting on my workbench and not in my car because I have spent all morning trying to figure out how to route the hoses from the motor side of the radiator to the grill side of the radiator. Where oh where did you guys route those hoses who have done a tranny cooler install? I'm assuming folks tried to keep the hose run as short as possible and so took them through somewhere on the battery side of the radiator, but where? I've been over, under, sideways, down and have succeeded only in feeling incompetent. I'm using a Hayden stacked-plate design cooler that's about 12"x10" and it looks like it can be oriented so the hoses exit in any direction but that doesn't help. When you're utterly confused. Like me. Someone have mercy on my sorry butt. The next door neighbor kids are setting up bleachers and selling tickets.

Pull that big black plastic cover off, then remove the smaller black plastic piece between the radiator and a/c condenser. You have to work the little "tangs"to pull the small piecs off.
Now look on the battery side where the stock cooler line come through, you should have a rubber flap/seal thing there thats how I routed mine right through there.
To answer your next question, look at the stock line/connections near the radiator.See the one with the white tape? thats the RETURN from the stock cooler to the trans.Route the rubber line to your new cooler then another rubber to the stock tube.

cyclone03 - did you mount your cooler in between the radiator and the a/c condenser?

Here's how I routed my trans cooler. This pic is a shot looking from the drivers side, in front of the other coolers with the top shroud removed. I welded the brackets for the supplemental cooler on the front of the front-end cross-car carrier on the right-hand side. The hoses route down below the battery mount, through two 3/4" holes in the plastic cover that I drilled, then up to the stock trans line and to the stock trans cooler. I used hydraulic hose with a braded fabric outer and a nitral core that NAPA carries.
I believe there is a reason to mount the cooler with the lines going in/out in the up direction, but I don't remember what it is.
Hope this is useful.

Tranny cooler successfully installed with a little help from a Craftsman grinder. Thanks for the help folks. And if you're thinking about this I'd use a long and skinny cooler instead of an almost square one. It'll be much easier to put in. Hooray for this site.

It was a little over 104 degrees here today on the valley floor. I drove for a couple of hours on the freeway, in town, and up to a little over 7000 feet in the Sierra. With the 10x3/4x11 stacked-plate design transmission cooler mounted on the a/c condenser my operatng temps for the transmission have dropped 25-30 degrees. I have the Stallion torque converter and Reinhart level II package in my transmission.
And BTW, I can't say enough good things about the level II package on the transmission. It is a wonderful addition for the peace of mind you get of not wondering if your transmission is going to take a dump on you. You can bark the tires when you feel like it or not, the shifts are solid with absolutely no slip, and sort of, well, just perfect. After a month of living with it I'm sure: it was well worth the money.

I installed the B&M Supercooler Part#70264 and was wondering-if the one with the white tape is the return line , then why is it hotter than the other line to the right??? :help:

Great! Now I have to go double check mine.
Sorry.
But you do want to run from trans to stock cooler to new cooler back to trans.
Remember the stock cooler is not inside the radiator so it does not pick up heat from the water.

It dropped 25F-30F... so what are you reading now????
160F? 150F?
I've heard from a very reliable source that he would like the tranny fluid kept at 170F as much as possible. Nothing lower or higher over a long period of time.
