Is there any interest in a combined Southern Marauders and Carolina Marauders at the infamous "Tail of the Dragon" in the fall?

set this up right, and more than you may expect, may be there. Tail of the Dragon, or, the Natchez Trace. I'm up for either...

...........well.......I'm for the "Tail " , cause I've never been as yet, and have heard so much about it from so many people....gosh!!! and especially since it's in NC.....can you imagine so many MM's in single file ...no LEO will stop 'um --they wouldn't know WTF is going on--so they'd follow to find out--and be last to get to the top or bottom --which ever we're doing--cause we're sure to do both!!!!!!!!! ............Tom

The Natchez Trace is wonderful (I've been along most of it), but speed is limited and the road is not particularly winding. Beautiful drive, though, with lots of stops for history.
I like the tail idea... with recommendations for those who've driven down to give the Trace a taste.

The Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway are all close together and have varying degrees of tight twisties, sweeping curves, and great scenery. I'd love to take the MM on these roads. Scheduling... fit it in with the Team Ford MM dyno tune, the joint meeting between the Southern Marauders and the Florida gang, and SSHS4. I can put together some route plans and map packages, I've been on these roads numerous times on the cycles.

Let me know when. I've been there and it's a blast in a Marauder.
My Dragon Run (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5196&highlight=dragon)
My mom lives in E TN and I may be able to take a vacation then.
It will be so cool to see a dozen MMs terrifying the Miatas.

If it's coupled with a dyno tune session, I'd like to do my driving after so as to enjoy the updates, eh?
We need to set this up...we also just want to be mindfull that late in the fall is better...that way Marauderman doesn't have to run any "foliage-watchers' off the road ;) :D :burnout:

Just be sure to plan around the Super Heavy Weight Shootout.
Maybe make it the same weekend, but the other day?

I'm good for whenever. I don't have any trips planned after early September.

No definite plans yet, but it is on the list for this fall for sure. Will update if/when plans progress. Anybody with input please drop suggestions in this thread. I may go up for a trial run in a few weeks.

I "Ran the Tail" a couple of weeks ago. There is a newer Microtel in Robbinsville (which is at the base of the run) with rooms in the neighborhood of $60.00 nightly. This would make a great location for hooking up with the Carolina group. The run itself can be challanging, depending on how you drive with multiple hairpin turns. The entire Tail has been recently repaved, providing a excellent (smooth) and predictable driving surface. The loop which takes in both The Tail and the Cherohala Skyway takes every bit of two hours (it took me about four because I stopped to sightsee a lot). I was a long drive from the Atlanta area but I made it there and back in a day. Next time, I wil be spending the night in Robbinsville. The Marauder garnered a lot of attention from the biker group, expecially at Deal's Gap. I spotted a total of four sherriff patrols along the route, lucky for me they were at times that I was within the speed limit. Overall, the loop is a lot of fun for a car with good handling and is a very scenic drive, well worth the travel time to get there.
