Stopped by Anaheim Lincoln Mercury (California) today and there was a new black 2004 Marauder on the lot.
They have added 3 grand in profit to the sticker price. They wrote on the sticker "Increase because of Limited Availability".
The sticker price is $39,650.00.
I dont think they will ever see me on their lot again.

That kind of thing is why some dealers had cars for over a year. Big dealer markups that they held on them far too long.

who said we had no re-sale value...
HOPE THE TREND CONTINUES
they should advertise this
and
we should all get on the bandwagon
calling Anaheim Lincoln-Mercury as if we are
potential customers
we should also spread some E-BAY rumors around...
2003-2004 Marauders in any condition
with any number of miles...
$50,000
could happen...:shot:

P.S. any used superchargers out there for sale?:puke:

I get my Ranchero back this week fresh from the install of new double roller timing gears and cam. Expecting another 80-90 plus HP.
The PI heads and manifold and Holley 750 go on next followed by stainless 2 1/2 inch exhaust, X-pipe and magnaflows.
Gonna probably put the cover on the MM and let it sit awhile untill the CARB thing is settled; then a Trilogy kit!
Can't help it...I just like all that reassuring steel around me when I am horseing around in a car.
The fat sway bars on the Ranchero make it munch corners nicely! Flat as a board and I love throwing the rear end around like a crazy-ass hillbilly.
I am still thinking over what to do with the 1969 MM.
Best Regards,
David

39K for a bone stock Marauder? They'll never get it. Whoever pays that for a Marauder when you can easily get them for 26K (and I've heard of some deals as low as 24K) is on drugs..... BTW, I'd never encouratge any dealers w/phone calls who placed a sticker price on a Marauder for 39K cuz that's just a rip-off.

:mad:when I bought my MM last year 12/29/04(black) I really originally wanted blue. But the only '03s blue, left were in california about 5 and none had butt warmers .I was told they were less desireable because of restrictions due to emissions??Just remember if you don't like the price posted you have the opportunity to offer what you will pay (because this is America)besides when they are all gone what else can you buy for fourty bigones that is even remotely compairs??:shot:

I rememeber looking at a pontiac ram air t.a. a few years back and they had $4,000-5,000 "market adjustment". Personaly, i wouldnt pay a dime in dealer "market adjustment." The first time i noticed the price, i immediately felt disgust for that dealer. Plain and simple its taking advantage of consumers. Now, with that said, if the dealer will charge it, and someone pays it, i actually blaim both. If a consumer pays that additional mark up, they alone give the dealers the incentive to continue charging it.

The Dealer Markup issue "just because" is extremely frustrating. It happens in more places than you know. My fiancee Heather was in the market for an SRT-4 and the first dealer we went to slapped on a $4,000 mark up "just because". I asked why, and the salesman said "because we can". We then went to a dealer we know and trust and got the car for about $5,000 less than the other dealer was selling theirs. I also saw a Dodge SRT-10 Ram on a showroom floor one day with signs printed off a computer "Don't Touch!" So I leaned in and saw the floormats, muddy boot prints, and 30 miles on the car. I guess someone touched it!! Then I checked out the sticker price, $57,000!! On the sticker in big blue marker was written "$7,000 dealer mark up!" I again asked why, and again the same answer "because we can". Price gouging at it's finest.
The sad thing...some moron will probably walk into the dealership and buy that 40K Marauder without even thinking...because they just don't know any better.

Just remember supply /demand controls $$. look at history how would like to have purchaced an Audi 5000 just before the "sponteanous acceleration" scare started.I have seen many posts regarding deals on new and used MM's due to excess supply vs. current demand. But thier will be a time when only a few remain and this will drive the $$ up.The b- body 94-96 were very soft (slow sellers ) , until Generous motors announced their demise. I think we are at or near this point with our MM's

Cars sold in Orange County are normally higher than other So Cal counties because of the average high median income of its residents. They mark up all type vehicles because people still buy em. Go to LA county for best rates. Got this from an LA county car salesman.

I think that in the case of the Marauder, it's merely a matter of traveling out of your way to find a better deal. There are still some dealers that I see on the net that have well over a dozen marauders left sitting on their lots. I know it isn't the majority of dealers by any means, but if you're willing to go out of your home state, you can easily save literally 12K atleast, rather than spending 39K on one of these cars. I think a savings like that is worth the extra effort.

A dealer can ask whatever He/She wants for a vehicle. Will they get their price, I don't think so. In this area they were asking above sticker when the Marauders frist hit the showrooms. They didn't sell many till factory rebates came into effect. A local Pontiac dealer is asking 3K (fair market value) above sticker on the new GTO. They are having a difficult time selling them even at sticker.

I think that with all the enthusiasm we have for these cars, it's easy for us to forget that the bottom line is, that the majority of car buyers want nothing to do w/the mere thought of buying a V8 engine RWD car, and especially one that's a big heavy tank like the Marauder is. That's why there are few dealers who can sell a whole lot of cars like a Marauder, Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, etc., etc......
These cars just don't sell like "hotcakes"......so that's why it would be crazy to buy one for 39K.

Just wait until a Ford dealer has a new Ford GT sitting on the floor marked up $100,000 over MSRP! :bows:

Odd about emissions, since in CA the Marauder qualifies as a ULEV vehicle

Odd about emissions, since in CA the Marauder qualifies as a ULEV vehicleAre the MM's shipped to that region different? I have seen posts from people in that area that say they can only get mid grade fuel.I wasn't sure if it's related to the emmision regulations. If they are different in some way to achieve ULEV or are all MM's ULEV:confused:
