I snuck out of work early tonight and cruised Woodward. I must say that the Dream Cruise week has began. All the cool classic cars out cruising and people are looking and pointing at the cool blk MM. People love this car. Anyway, as I cruise I see a DTR MM cruising in the right lane. I make my way over to it and the gentleman driving it tells me he just picked it up. He also tells me that he is aware of the Motor City Maruaders and this site. His name is Jeff and I am glad to have him join our family of friends. Later on I line up at a light on Wooward with an Impalla SS and a Saab Turbo. The light changes and the SS jumps out on me but when I hit second it was all over. My car started walking him down. The Saab never knew what him. That little four-banger never had a chance against two V8's on the street known for "American Muscle". This is gonna be a fun week.

They were out in full force tonight. Had to be careful where I ran my MM.

As a rule during the Dream Cruise, drag racing is a no no. Squealing tires usually results in being impounded and towed. Bummer eh?

A few years back, you could get away with a little racing the few days before the "big day". But now it has gotten to be so huge of an event that the whole week leading up to Cruise day is totally hoppin'. The cops keep things in check.

BTW, anyone who has seen the preliminary cruising and gathering can now understand what I meant about our lot being at THE heart of the cruise

The first year got out of hand. People were running around pouring bleach everywhere. People were drag racing north in the southbound lanes in prostreet cars. The crowds were litterally in the next lane watching. No one went home. So, now, basically nothing but forward movement is tolerated. Cops are everywhere you look. They shut down Woodward at something like midnight Friday and 10:00 Saturday. It is very structured considering the magnitude of the event.
