It's 700 miles to the beach.
I've got two full tanks of gas,
half a ton of stuff,
It'll be mostly daylight
We'll be wearing sunglasses...

What should we "Hit it" in?

Alrighty friends, here's my dilemma... and what a fun what it is!

What car do we drive to the beach? The contenders... our MM and the BMW wunderwagon.

I'm perfectly happy driving either... the wagon has 17" wheels and shorty shifter bolted to the 5-speed. Fun. We all know Marauders. The main reason to leave the MM at home is the warranty. I've got 19,000 miles or 21 months to go. If I burn 1400 miles down and back, plus another 300 running around there... I'm down to 17,300 miles of coverage or 21 months.

Granted, I bought a car... not a warranty, but I don't want to spite the warranty. 'Course, if the warranty expired that would be one less reason not to get a supercharger :)

Miles on the wagon don't matter. Its got just over 100k on it and isn't showing any wear. It's like the odometer doesn't matter.

But... our mountain bikes and kiddie trailer fit in the MM's trunk, and we still have the full back seat. Load that stuff in the wagon and we're down to 1/2 a back seat. Buy a roof rack for the wagon and I'm down $500. Ouch.

We'll have more room for the baby & the in-laws in the MM for dinner trips.

The wagon gets better mileage, but who really cares... 22 vs 28... not a decision maker.

Any objective opinions? Please no BMW slams... if I thought they were junk we wouldn't have bought one... 'course if I thought it was much better than the MM I'd know what to take on vacation.

Ahh... decisions... decisions. Thanks!

If everything fits in the trunk go with the Marauder.
Plus having a FULL rear seat gives the non driving adult a place to tend/play/comfort the child in the rear while still driving.Much safer than HOLDING the child in the front!

Nothing like giving everybody thier own time zone while driving.

I agree. Take the Marauder.

Wellllll....that's easy after the fact....

I learned yesterday that since it had rained all morning at the Charlotte motor speedway, well....they needed to dry the track quickly before we took the nascars out.

They had us run our personal vehicles around the track 60 laps at 80 to 100 mph....and what did we do it in? A farkin frigin pos mini van!!!!:cheesed:

BRING THE MARAUDER!!! One never knows when it could come in handy....:cowboy:

Other than the warranty discussion and a couple mpg, there wasn't a thing offered in favor of the BMW Wunderwagen. Sounded like 8 to 2 in favor of the Marauder. Make it 10 to 1 when the grin and pleasure factor are added in. Heck, based on the info that you provided, I could make a case for selling the BMW and getting an S/C.
