Hello all! We made it home from our Carolina excursion in one piece.

I left the beater Vic at grandpa's house while gone, and upon starting it this evening to come home I noticed the AIR BAG light was flashing in some sort of sequence.

The car runs apparently fine, but I need it for tomorrow as the company has me on another 14 day road trip. I need to know if I should drive it....or park it!

92 Crown Vic, 130,000 miles....AIR BAG light flashes 2 times ON, a pause, then 4 times ON. It repeats every few seconds.

HELP!:dunno:

I believe your sequence is code number 24.

Sorry, Barry, this post won't help you.

I just went through this the week after our visit to your place. The code flashing was 4-2, and the service manuals described a long drawn out process of replacing each body mounted sensor (there are two front, two aft, and one on each side of the car) one by one, until the code went away. It did not, and the central air bag brain mounted beneath the passenger seat was replaced. Then it went away.

The problem, or it's cause was never revealed, or, correctly diagnosed, they just made it go away. This was covered under warranty, so, the cost of the exploration was from L/Ms pocket. Moreover, none of the sensors were in stock, and the down time was almost a week. Had it been my pocket, I would have pulled the bulb from the dash...

The first ligth means sell me, and the pause, then 4 times means sell me now. If this continues for the next couple of days then you loss all retail value. Even CarMax will not except your car in trade with this type of code. :cowboy:

24--Safing Sensor Output Feed/Return Circuit - Open. Sounds like a loose wire somewhere on the safety interlock. A fuse maybe???

You can drive your car with the air bag light on because it only shows a fault with the air bag system. The only thing to remember is that you will NOT have the safety of the air bags in an accident, which God willing you won't have. So if you need to take the car go ahead. It will run just fine since it's not an engine/computer code.

Well that sure was a potpourri of answers....:nocomm:

But, it does sound harmless in the motorization aspect of the Beater-Vic element therefore I guess I'll blow it off for now.

BTW: It went away when I ran a quick errand a few minutes ago...hopefully it stays away!

Thanks to all.

You know in my consumer frame of mind the ONLY automotve systems on a car that should have an UNLIMITED warrenty are the Seatbelts/warning and the AIRBAGS!

Yea I know seatbelts ware with use,so the owner should be rewarded with new ones every 5 years or so.
The Airbags NEVER get used tell you NEED them, they just sit there. If the warning light comes on EVERY manufactor should step up and repair it to full servicability.

So, it sat 14 days in a high humidity enviornment, and the blinken light went out after you went for a drive and warmed it up. (thus drying it out) IMHO, it fixed itself. All sorts of weird s*** happens when we let 'em sit.

Maybe she felt neglected. My parrot plucks her feathers when she goes without attention for extended periods of time. :)

Glad to hear it worked itself out.

Well...the light has not come back on in two days...apparently she didn't get her point across...

Water pump went pulling into the hotel yesterday. Not too shabby for the way I beat on with over 120k on it.

$260 with a lifetime NAPA warranty...ouch...working 12 hour shifts thru sataurday. Had no other option.:dunno:
