well a good friend of mine bought a top of the line 300.granted he only had 300 miles but he could not take the verbal abuse any more.i beat him by half a car.thats impressive for brand new car.i know he wants to race when it gets broken in so im going to have to step up sooner than planned.since doing the 4.10s,sct tuner and pullies i'm 4-0. so far a G35 coupe,02 mustang GT w/ram air & exhaust, acura TL w/a 6 speed and a 300 hemi.

Well thats great that you went out to the local dragstrip and kicked his A$$ because nobody on this website would ever think of street racing. To bad the timers were broke down that day. :drive:

Why do you speak for everyone else? Speak for yourself......

S.A.R.C.A.S.M., Billy!

Anyone with a STOCK Marauder run against a new Hemi yet? Stock = straight from the factory, no possibility of any Ford rep ever denying warranty, type of stock...

S.A.R.C.A.S.M., Billy! :lol:Perhaps it was Steve, but remember how you were mistaking the last time you told me that? I just can't assume that it's sarcasm when it comes to this subject on this board, since there have been so many people here that get all bent outta shape about this topic. (ofcourse that might have been Paul's way of trying to keep this thread alive):hide:

I got the sarcasm and I think that he is building on my "private track"concept.

You see, no matter what the "non-rules" are about talking about street racing the fact of the matter is that we WILL race and, if it makes a difference to this board, we WILL do it on our PRIVATE TRACKS.

I, for one, am glad that so many fellow Marauder owners have ready access to private tracks. It makes our being able to share our kills so much more enjoyable.

Long live the "private track" and the easy access all Marauder owners have to one.

Best,

Dan

As long as we all keep it sane...

There have been 2 or 3 (lost count) deaths up here in Quebec on 'private tracks' this weekend. Here's one, albeit in text only. The images are pretty impressive, though, as shown on the local all-news channel.

But I can't seem to come across the description of the other one that I saw a report on... in that case, a young dude died shortly afterward in hospital, but looking at the accordion that used to be his car, it's a wonder he lasted that long. I'm a good car spotter but damned if I could make out what that sporty car used to be! Worst part: one of the cars he collided with was a Cherokee with a young family in it. Luckily, the child sustained only minor injuries. This happened fairly north of Montreal yesterday, and the road is usually pretty deserted (mostly used for logging trucks, etc.). Oh well.

I know there's at least one member on here who recently lost a child in a motor vehicle accident. I don't know the circumstances, whether or not he had mistakenly stumbled onto someone else's private track. I'm not trying to preach and I don't think anyone else is trying to either... it's just a question of showing some sensitivity. Tough subject, I haven't been an angel myself in the past, just been lucky that my track remained private most of the time (except for that one time I almost mowed down a young 8-10 year old boy some 15 years ago when he stumbled across my '85 Parisienne's private track... :( )

Please don't anyone take part of the following statement out of context, nor take it the wrong way.....

I just want to add a sidenote here, and it in no way serves as a justification for anyone's agressive driving habits, be they my own, or anyone else's.....

but I personally think that if you're gonna drive fast, whether you're racing or all alone, it's much better to have an exhaust system that's louder than stock. That way, people hear you coming and are therefore alerted to your presence. That isn't the primary reason why I've chosen to modify my exhaust system, but I believe that it's simply a fringe benefit, and one that does make a difference.

Again, please don't anyone twist my words here. I fully agree that driving slow is the safest way, and is a much better policy for safety than mounting louder mufflers on your car is. But driving fast while having the stock mufflers still on is just asking for trouble since people simply don't hear you coming and are oblivious to your presence until it's just too late.

This is just meant to be some food for thought. It isn't meant to make a stand on this issue in any way.

But unfortunately it does often happen here, and I've been on the receiving end of it more than once. Some people tell me to chill. They need to use their own advice sometimes.:pill:
