I cut 1 turn and I love the results.

Shoooot.....I was suppose to send you a pic of my car's profile so you could see how it looks lowered. :banghead: As you can tell I forgot.

One coil is about the best, it leaves room for a front wheel alinment. Look at my car in my gallery.

One coil is what I did too.
I think you could go up to 1 1/2 but that 1/2 coil would add about 5/8" to your drop.

You could be a ground breaker here if you had the meens to cut, reinstall, line measure then repeat.
Of course if you go too far you need another set of stock coils, about $80 ea. Being new they will not yield the same drop for a couple houndred miles.

Sorry if this is of no help.

Has anyone measured the uncompressed height of the spring?

Dave

No,but you could.

I did crawl under the car and make a few measurements before I cut mine but didn't write anything down.

I think it ends up being about 1"between coils.
The first coil actually drops the car the least because it is slightly pig tailed.
So to go with a full 1" drop I THINK 1 1/4" coil would be it.

The quick and easy is to slide under the car with the FULL weight of the car on the wheels and measure the center to center across two coils. If you remove one coil thats your drop.
Note to the engineers out there:Yes I know if you cut one coil from a spring the rate increases and the drop will not = the exact distence between the springs.

OK Edit before I posted.
I went out and measured the center to center on my front spring it 1 1/2" give or take 1/8"

My car DID NOT drop 1 1/2" after I cut the first pig tailed coil, and to be honest I didn't write down my before and afters.I wish I did.
I THINK to get a FULL 1" cutting from the first coil 1 1/4 coil would do the trick.

So to answer your question no I haven't measured the uncompressed spring height.
