Has anyone else experienced this? I have a small crack in the leather about two inches long near the left front corner of the seat. The crack actually runs part of the length of one of those naturally forming wrinkles in the leather. At first I thought is was a bit of dust in the wrinkle, but nope, it's a crack in the material.
The car doesn't sit in the sun a lot and I clean and condition the leather every so often so other than it being a result of el-cheapo material I'm at a loss.

I have not had this problem with my 03MM. My last CV a 1997 had a defect in the leather seat cushion cover on the passenger side and was replaced under warranty. The leather in my MM is of much better quality than my 97 CV. I would try and get it replaced under warranty.

One of the things we did recently, due to the fact Marty's car will not have standard OEM seatbelts inside anymore (5-point Simpson harnesses front/rear) is we had our man Charles at Marietta Auto Trim replace the panels on each front seat which comes with the hole in it for the OEM belts. He can get the actual Ford factory leather, and just replace the whole panel. Cost is nominal. When we get together next...I'll hook you up with Charles.
You can see how this panel was replaced on the drivers side below....

I haven't experienced any problems with the leather but the car is still very new so I don't expect any problems yet. My 2000 CV leather cracked when it was about a year old during the winter when the window was down, the rain came in, soaked into the seat, then froze the seat solid like an ice cube overnight. Although it had small cracks, they never tore through in the 4.5 years I kept the car. I wasn't happy about the cracks though. Can you get a warranty replacement? I should have pursued that myself, but never did.

For what it's worth, the Marauder owner's manual states that there's some type of clear coating put on the leather seats from the factory, and that petroleum based leather cleaners should NOT be used because of that. I noticed that Ford sells a upolstry cleaner for leather also.

Thanks Todd and Marty. I'll look him up because I have a scuff in the back seat too that's been there since I bought the car.

Haven't used petro based cleaners.I was told that when cracks appear in leather it's because something in the tanning process was amiss that particular spot may not have been dried (tanned) properly.Go to the nearest Friendly L/M dealership show it to the S/M and post what he say's. We will be waiting:argue:

I hate to break it to you guys, but most of our leather seats are not in fact leather. We have leather "seating surfaces" so the part of teh seat that holds your can is leather. The rest is just some nice vinyl. And, as far as I know vinyl isn't tanned.
Don't belive me? Take your seats apart to the level I have (the pics above are my customized seats) and you will see that I am right.

How did you know what portion of the seat the crack appeared.I assumed it was the leather contact area.By the way those pic's of your seats are very nice!!
