I saw a Toyota Matrix today with ghost flames similar to this Chevy SSR

I didn't have my camera, but, man, they looked great! So, whatcha think
of these on an MM?

Not this color, do something that keeps the black, just subtle like this:

Donny, I was thinking of something like a very dary grey or black cherry, almost black ghost flame. One that really could not be seen until you get right up on it.

The white on white is way too subtle IMO .... I would say barely noticeable (maybe it shows more in person). Silver on Black like the SSR gives a nice contrast. Personally, I like the monochrome style statement of the Marauder the way it came out of the box. That was part of the eye-catcher for me.

I had to stare at this, for far too long to see. Either this picture didn't capture it well, or they're too subtle, for my liking.

I like the second pic, very subdued.
A guy at work has a light blue 60's Mustang coupe that has ghost flames that are just a shade darker than the rest of the body. The car has to be spotless and in just the right light to see the flames, but it is beautiful.
What would be a good match with the black? What about aluminum / white pearl on black:

EDIT: Eh, maybe it would just look dirty...

Or interlaced candy blue and aluminum / white pearl might be nice:

All kinds of paint schemes at www.customflamepainting.com to stare at. Looks like all motorcycle tins, but you get the idea.

My late Ski coach used to paint show cars. He was the 'go to' guy for western Canada if you wanted something special.
I always wanted him to do a flame job on my old 79 Vette. What he wanted to do, in addition to a colour changinf paint scheme, was the ultimate 'ghost' flames. The same colour as the car, but the addition of glass beads. These reflect light.
So, use the standard MM black, throw in some beads, and paint away! The flames will only show up at night, and then only when someone's headlights are pointed at you.
Subtle, no?

Located in Pinellas Park, FL. Site says they aren't taking car/trucks/sportsbikes at this time. I'm sure they are good capitalists though.
Let's see, 1200 miles to DR's shop, another 200 to Pinellas Park... I need to win the lottery soon.

I just need to find a shop capable of doing work like this in the ATL or NYC area at a reasonable rate and I will be a happy guy.

The theme of this car is "lucky lady" so it has a card game graphics other than the ghost flames. I wouldn't be interested in those, or the ghost of the spade on the hood. The flames are color shifting and more the degree of subtlety I like. I like how they extend to the mirrors.

There's no escaping this, you're a major DINK.
That said, I also feel that these flames sucka big one, so...

Get flamed for speaking out against flames, eh?
Nah. Ghost flames turn off some, turn on others. Most of them I don't much care for, but I have seen some I like. I don't know if I'll do it or not, but I remain very interested in it.
I saw a Mustang just yesterday than had a terrific ghost flame scheme, though I didn't like the paint color choice. A lot of it depends on the artistry of the guy designing the pattern and laying the paint. It's reall easy to screw this up and wind up with fugly paint.

I will allow you to wallow in your dinkhood all by yourself. While you do, ponder the thought that the Marauder can be a bit of all of these things and, if executed properly, it can do all of these things well.
Mac, I'll just let you sit and feel sorry for yourself all by yourself.

Know anybody doing them?

There is a Black MM in the binghamton, NY area with ghost flames. They are very subtle, kind of a midnight blue if I remember correctly. They were only visible at certain angles. I think it looked great.
