Took my MM into Ford Cobra dealership to check
on it's trim ( a dyno test had showed I had lost
some HP. ) Going to do another dyno. tomorrow and data log
the car this time. I will email the results and xl-spread sheet to
Dennis R. for evaluation and have him do another chip.

The tech. and I drove around and found all was well - however...
I forgot to disconnect the battery for 10 min. after taking out the
chip early that morning. And a P1000 code showed up on his screen.
The service receipt (no chg.) now says I had a P1000 code which means I entered the PCM somehow. Oh Well !!!
The tech. said that if I had driven 25 miles and
started the car up atleast 8 times the code would have gone away.
To bad we can't plug something into the OBD II port to clear the
codes - I'll bet Dennis R. will be able to get something for us to do that.

Warren,

The P1000 code is like you said, just to document that the PCM has been accesed. The only way to clear it is to go through the drive routine.

It keeps someone from deleting out a smog trouble code and getting it through the smog check before the code re-appears.

Don't waste your time. From my experience, code P1000 is the to let you know that everything in the PCM (& the parts it monitors) are A-OK. And it won't turn on the check engine light either.

This link provides some info on the code: CLICK (http://www.smpcorp.com/download/view/tt4q00.pdf) I don't believe the code has anything to do with tampering of the PCM.

I found another trouble code listing online.
http://www.2carpros.com/kpages/diagnostic_trouble_codes.htm

and a nice presentation about ODBII codes - it does mention more details about the P1000 code and how it gets cleared by driving.
