With nothing to do this morning I decided to take the plunge and install my Valentine 1 radar detector's remote in the dash. Taking apart the remote, I mearured the opening I'd need. After taping the center trim with tape (for something to write on and to prevent any scratches). I removed the center trim. I drilled out the corners of the soon to be hole, used a a Dremel tool to make the first cuts, used a fine tooth hacksaw blade to finish the rough opening. Using the Dremel tool and a small file I enlarged the hole for a perfect fit. Although it was a tight fit I used some black silicone sealer to cement in the remote panel. Ran the wire for the remote, hooked up the rear window defroster and snapped the center trim back in. Looks good only took about two hours. I uploaded pictures, can send them in an email if needed.

Please e-mail me a picture. I "velcro-ed" my remote to the top of the steering column. I'd be interested to see where yours is. Thanks.

Too bad the V1 wasn't up to snuff vs the newer radar detectors and POP radar. :(
