Zack and I installed the Cobra exhaust kit on my MM in under 2 hours, using the stock 2.0" OD mufflers. It's all bolt in, some welding may be necessary only if you're changing mufflers to something with a larger OD inlet. You may have to loosen the AC pump a bit to get to one header bolt, but other than that, it's a smooth install.

Mac, I'm thinking about ordering this exact kit from Dennis. Glad to hear it installed so easily. Know it has been discussed many times before (I've been reading threads on exhaust systems for the last 3 hours), but wondered if you considered opening up to 2.5" all the way back and installing aftermarket mufflers? One very highly regarding forumite stated that the gains in going non-stock 2.5" for the mufflers back were "obvious and proven", but others have said that the exhaust gas is so cool by the time it gets that far back that bolting up to the stock mufflers is fine.
I currently have the delete tips only and was hoping to just bolt up either the SVO headers and reinhart pipe and cats to the existing mufflers and pipe, or do just the same install you did.
Please let me know your thoughts and why you went with this particular option.
Thanks as always for your input!

Well, Norm, just so happens that I did install my Cobra exhaust in two steps. The first step was the complete DR Cobra kit, piped into 2.0" OD mufflers, with the delete tips already in place. I did before and after dynos that evening and gained 28 RWHP and 30 RWTQ. After that, I added the Magnaflow mufflers with a 2.5" OD piped into the 2.25" OEM tailpipe and delete tips. Gained 2 more RWHP for a total of 30/30 RW power.

Thanks Mac! 2 more questions if you don't mind:
1) I want to keep the delete tips as well but am concerned about it not being too loud when driving. (No drone wanted.) I take it you are pleased with the sound? How much louder did it get after the new muffler install as opposed to just the cobra hookup and std. mufflers?
2) Did you get 18" flowmasters? is there a model # for them and can you tell me the approx. cost of each muffler so I can estimate the total cost in parts?
(OK, it was 3 questions!)
My only concern is that the burble be healthy but not overpowering and will not drown out the inside of the car. Current delete tips are 1" past the rear bumper and sound great.
Thanks as always for good info Mac.

Sorry, Norm, but I'm not going to be able to answer your questions here.
First, it's always been beyond me to transfer my feelings in a one dimensional medium, what's perfect pitch to me could be painfully loud to you. I've had such exchanges about ride height, ride softness/firmness, brake adhesion, speakers, shocks, control arms, and so on, ad nauseum.
But, I can attest to this. If your noise levels become uncomfortable to you, you can rely on a product from the audio/stereo market called "DynaMat" as a soundproofing material that will quiet the passenger cabin. Beyond that, it's coin toss on volume, tone, and likewise judgements based on personal feelings.
Secondly, I posted a typo I didn't see until you replied, but I have since corrected my post. I don't have Flowmaster mufflers, I have the Magnaflows...And I am really sick and tired of trying to keep all these muffler names straight in my head. Magna this, Dyna that, most are some kind of flow, and all are the one "master" we would die for....
My apologies for my error, my friend.

Thanks Mac. Makes sense, and I understand how hard it muust be to quantify sound. Think I'll do what you did and start with the cobra kit and plug into the OEM mufflers with the delete tips. I've read enough that I doubt that sound will be too loud. The increase between OEM tips and delete tips was not that much.
Then if I want to pop for the extra $ for that little bit of extra HP (depending frankly upon how much each new muffler is to buy and install), I may go with new mufflers later.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Norm

From the pics recently posted in the gallery, can anyone point out to me where (if) this system is ported and polished?

Hay Bucky Boy, My exhaust guy over her on the east coast took about 2 1/2 hrs to do the job. He also did TMAC1337's car too.

Marty,
I saw two sets of Cobra/Mach 1 manifolds that were being installed at Team Ford, neither had any evidence of port matching or polishing. Talk to Scott about those next time you talk to him.
BTW, your car is looking good.

The system I sell is port matched to the heads, as compared to the shorty headers I first sold, The Ford SVO shorty were made to fit non Tumble port heads. yes they look nice but if you look at the flange area they do not match the head port openings, the manifolds I sell now do, and they are cleaned up and ceramic coated, this accomplishes two things, one it helps keep down the heat which helps in a HP gain and it prevents rust and mainatins a very nice appearance, with the twin High flow cats and X pipe it really helps the exhaust system it also improve the over all exhaust sound, and we have seen as much as a 23RWHP gain with the S/C cars, it takes about three hours to do the whole job I do not remove the OEM exhaust studs or gaskets, I use them and have never had a leak on probably 50 installs, if you have any more questions please give me a call.
