I recently bought Streets and Trips 2005 (with the GPS receiver and antenna) for the low low price of $79. I already own a Dell Inspirion 8100, so I figgered this would be a good, low cost trial run of GPS navigation. So far, it's worked great, my only complaint is the laptop sits on the passenger seat and slides around. So, I checked out a Laptop mount with the provisions 1)no drilling and 2)must be easily removed. This is what I came up with....
A Jotto mount specific to the Crown Vic:

Todd tells me that you already did, so may I assume that this question is rhetorical?

remove the pass airbag and put the laptop in there just add a bit of filler to keep it sturdy. go to the depot and buy a couple of cans of great stuff.
you could look into what the cops use to hold their equipment in place, ive seen a few on ebay, and Ive actually messed with one once, it was pretty sturdy, but I think it was attached to the floor, I dont remember anymore. kinda sacred me for a bit, cause they bolted right above the trans, on the hump, wondered if the hit the 02 wiring or trans sensors
just my $0.02

Okay, okay. In the interest of not having my invitation to the shindig on 15th revoked, I will henceforth use the following for drink service:

Here's a mount that may be what I am looking for. The main bracket attaches to the passenger seat bolts, one knob releases the mount "in seconds" for stowage. Also available is a sun screen and power inverter.

And they offer a more beefed up model specific to the Crown Vic fro $200 more. Also mounts to passenger seat bolts, no drilling, quick release. I wonder if there would be clearance issues with the Marauder console.

Donny, Who was the vendor on the laptop mount and what was the price? Same for the GPS, saw one the other day but it was like $125, so you got a good buy!

I'm still shopping for the laptop mount. The one in the picture with the lady is $274, a bit pricey but less than the $400+ for the Crown Vic specific mount.
Streets and Trips 2005 with the GPS module lists for $125, but I bought it at CompUSA last week for $79.99.

They make some integrated touch screen computers that have a mounting bracket that mounts on the DIN radio mount. The Tablet swings to the right in order to reach the radio buttons. This display would enable you to see the GPS diaply as well as any other software you might want to add...say IR camera display, DVR, WINRADIO scanning, a WiFi card...etc. Might even add some engine monitoring software while you are at it...the possibilities are....:run:

The Jotto Desk mounts actually to the front two bolts on the passenger seat. Its pretty sturdy. The crossmember that goes across to the right bolt hole is not noticble. But I do think it may limit the forward travel on the passenger seat. Its swing arm is designed to go over police consoles and is height adjustable. Also it allows the passenger/navigator/right hand driver to operate the computer. They have a generic platform for your computer they use a cable to hold the laptop down. I think they have specific mounts for some of the toughbooks.
