View Full Version : Silent Recall List
Has anybody developed or maintained a silent recall list for Marauder's? When I refer to 'silent recall' I mean those items that are not a full recall but will be fixed under warranty. (They know about a problem, but won't tell you until you bring in your car with that problem. Then they have replacement parts/procedures to address the problem)
Thanks in advance for replies.

Some dealers act like the warranty work is coming out of their pocket. The first time I washed my Marauder the headlights fogged up. The dealer said " They are not damp enough to be replaced under warranty". :bs: IMO they seem to forget the these vehicles cost approximately 30K>

Would this be the same as a "TSB?"

I think it depends on the dealer. I had this issue with my 00 Focus fuel pump. Some dealers fixed it for a nominal fee others made you pay full price. I was in the full price group. Enough of us complained to the NHTSB that Ford was forced to issue a recall on fuel pumps for 00-01 Focus. I was repayed in full by Ford AND they installed the latest upgraded pump, no charge. When ever we here notice a common problem that is not being addressed by Ford, we should take a few minutes to start a complaint with the NHTSB, especially if the problem has the potential to cause a accident, as the bad fuel pumps did. I'm still waiting Ford to be forced to recall Foci for the bad ignition switch problem.

If you can gain acess to Fords website need to be authorized W/ID you have to look up by model, group ie. chassis, elect.,then by symptom.the bulliten will show affected models.sometime they are certain dates or plants where it was built.the TSB's I was concerned with regarding my vibe steering wheel shake. I posted some of the #'s in another post.summary:steering gear yoke torque, road force balance tires, body mounts (6) check for over tighten, retorque steering box to orig specs and back off 1/8 turn. this seemed to help some on mine so they backed it off a little more. I still have a vibe, its more prevelant over rough road and at expressway speeds(that's Fast around here!!) I know some members here work for Ford now(I'm laid off) that can look up a symptom but I don't know of a list per say.i THINK i REMEMBER ONE ON DASH lamps flicker (Mine do)and to remedy air noise replace door gasket.I noticed on pass side front door it hangs up on something. might be the same fix.If you have an issue chances are someone else has too!! thats what makes this such a beautiful thing:thinker:

I've been trying to convince my Service Mgr. about the TSB on the axel bearing fix for the Marauder, but only get, "it's for the Police Interceptor Package, and Limousine vehicles" :dunno:
My Marauder was built before Jan. 03, and those suppose to be the vehicles affected.

The problem is Ford. If we do work that's not supposed to be on your vehicle, they won't pay us. We can't work for free. Ford has our hand tied. As for the headlamps, Ford says slight moisture is normal. Unless you have gold fish swimming inside they don't want us to replace them. If we send the ould parts back and they reject the claim we eat the parts and labor. That's why some don't want to do it.

No, my rear end isn't making any noise now, but why wait till it starts, then it will be worst. :loco: If the TSB says that vehicles built before a certain date are affected, then it should be treated as being bad, regardless of any noise being present.
Just like recalls, whether it's bad or not, if it's recalled then fix it. IMHO :duel:

Just like recalls, whether it's bad or not, if it's recalled then fix it. IMHO :duel:A recall is a no questions asked repair done by the dealer paid by Ford . The tsb's are on an inspection basis to see if the car is or has the defect. There may be absoultely nothing wrong with your car. The Part that is recalled may have only been used for a certain period of time. that is why they refer to build dates when referenceing part #'s

You might want to check out Blue Oval News. They're not always right, but usually have a good answer to a specific question.

I wonder if it would be prudent to ask the Loganmeister to put up a FAQ
section where we could post TSB's as they become known? To keep his
time consumed to a minimum maybe have it as a "TSB" forum?
Are we straying out of bounds here?
Anyone?
Logan?

Wow! Sounds perfect, if no objections then I think we have a winner!
Can we start with the one about the rear axle bearings?
Great idea! At one time I had a service manager that would work with me and I would check with him periodically to see what issues had come up. Then I would make an appointment and get the issue fixed. I guess that was too easy to last!!
