Gavin, I know that Dan just got his Kooks headers ceramic coated in blue by the "Jet Hot" company. They have a few different levels of ceramic coatings, and their most durable one is supposed to be good for well over 2,000 degrees (F.) but it isn't available in silver. I think dan said that it comes in Blue, Black, and battleship grey. I'm not sure if he ever posted pics yet though.

quite a cheerful mood your in this morning Brad.......but on a more serious note, Summit Racing used to have this stuff called "Blue-Job" (no joke). It was allegedly for removing the bluing from chrome headers. I don't know if it really works, nor if they still sell the stuff. but ofcourse ceramic coated headers don't get Blue like chromed ones do. Don't mind my cerebral approach here. carry on...

Billy,

If you have any left I could use a Blue-job.

I think I remember a similar product may be the same It worked well on newly blued pipes but if there was alot of accumulation it wasn't very effective. Now can you take care of Dan, he needs somthing??Yea I'm in a good mood today How about you??:argh:

Oddly enough...my Stainless ones haven't either.:tmi:Yeah Barry, I wouldn't expect SS to blue anyway. I have seen it rust though. But then again, I guess just about any exhaust will rust eventually. It's simply a matter of how long that will take. Something tells me that this "JetHot 2000" coating that Dan got on his headers will last a real long time.

Gavin:

You must look at this thread: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12060&highlight=coating and call the folks mentioned there. They are the best at coating. Trust me you won't be sorry.

The direct link is: www.headercoatings.com

My understanding is that black will not be a challenge for him at all.

Ask for Gerry Mobley and tell him Todd Fisher and Marty Ochs sent you. He knows us from the "S****t P*****t".

Oh yeah, here is picture of their handiwork:

For as much as Marty will stand behind heardercoatings.com I will stand behind the Jet Hot 2000 treatment. That is not to say that Jet Hot is better. I am NOT an expert. Just compare the two and confer with each company prior to making a final call.

:)

Aww comon' Billy, don't be shy....what'd ya wanna say?

Without talking to me directly, some folks will never get it. I didn't coat for three reasons....Nick said NO, I saved a handfull of cash, and it would have done nothing for me aside from bling factor.

I refuse to push any bling factor items on new folks without a full rebuttle...."...not gonna do it".

Rust away? That's funny too....

Stainless Steel won't 'blue', but it will get a bronze-gold color the hotter it gets.(i.e. nearer to the cylinder head exhaust port) The bronze-gold discoloration can be polished out with 'Wenol'/'Blue Magic' Metal polish.

Rust away? That's funny too....:rolleyes:The post that I've deleted wasn't directed at you Barry. It was directed at Dan, but it kinda went a little too far. I left it on there long enough for him to see it, and then decided to delete it. Had I left it, this thread really would've gone down hill fast. That's why I deleted it.

BTW, Marty's header look great, but if you want Blue, Black, or grey headers instead, then I think that the "JetHot 2000" coating will last the longest since that's the only ceramic coating that is supposed to hold up to 2,400 degree heat.

Sweet looking!

I considered the black coating from www.headercoatings.com but I fell to the ever popular ceramic (bright aluminum style) coating.

Still happy with them....those are sharp though!
