Has anyone done any mods to factory MM tips as to add tone or flow.Have been told of some restrictive resonator inside but have not checked for myself.

Several members of this board have. The sound is somewhat louder. Wes Chain a vendor of this site has them for sale.

I did. I cut 'em off and got rid of 'em.

Then, I bolted up this:

I don't think so without destroying the Meg tips.

Direct answer = Yes.
You can replace the factory Megs tips with the non-resonated version Megs tips by contacting Wes on this site through 'Inovative Interceptors'.
There are other less costly outlets for tips that directly resemble the Megs, without the engraving 'MEGS', but you will have to find those on your own as those distributors are not not vendors here.

And NO. You can not modify the resonated tips.

It's not a restrictor, it's a resonator...all Megs did was continue the 2¼" tailpipe diameter approx 12" into the tip, where it then enlarges to the full 3½" and continues to the outlet. The tip itself does not cause any restriction to flow; the resonator is only there for NVH purposes.

As John (jgctoomanynumbersandletters) and Barry said, the resonator is an integral part of the tip and can't be removed...you have to replace the tip...call Wes.

Ya know....all I have that is shiney polished on the underside are the mufflers. Well...they were 3000 miles ago. It's simply not feasable to keep a polished exhaust system clean if one is actually gonna drive the car.

I'll admit, the polished system looks great sitting on the floor though...
