If my headers are installed by then I would be interested. I need to get a tune also.

Harry,
Haven't been to E-town for 20 years! I think I was banned for life the last time (cann't remember - I was too drunk)! It could be fun!
I did the "J" mod on the tranny this week - works nice! NOT looking forward to doing another w/car on jackstands. The valve body is about 6" form my nose & I can only focus up close to about 2' w/out glasses! I did locate a transmission shop that might be willing to do the mod.

Ordered the Kooks. Should be ready in a week or two. Can you send me the article on the trans. I have seen it before but couldn't find when I went back to look.

We should all get together for Englishtown. Still start drumming interest.

Paul, How long did this take? Is it something I can do with your expert supervision? I have the opposite problem. I can see close up just not far away.

About 3 hrs. We can try this - it's not too hard at all (you can climb under & turn the wrenches)! Recomend new separator plate gaskets, filter and 9 qts. of mercon V transmission fluid.
PN's:
1W72-7D100-AB - Gasket $2.96
1L3Z-7C155-AA - Gasket $4.60
F6AZ-7A098-A - Filter $36.33
Got the above @ McCarville Ford - Kenny Brown dealer. You might do better w/The Dealer on this site.
Pick up the fluid @ your local parts store - I used Castrol Mercon V semi synthetic .
I have the drills.
We are both gonna get a "salute" from our wives when we do this!
I do sugest you test drive my car before we do yours - I like the way it shifts, but that's my opinion!
Paul

Edit/PS - did we hi-jack this thread?

Paul: If you want to do another, let me know and you can use my garage (I have a lift). Mine is done already, so I am offering this up if you want to do the work on someone else's car. I'll supply the Diet Coke, the tools, and I will watch....

Marty & Paul, if both of you are up for it, I'd like to supply the car for this mod. Namely mine. I never did that to mine yet, and this transmission stuff is new teritory for me, so I'm a little shy about tackling this myself. Perhaps sometime in November would be good for me if it would be for you guys.

We will have to get Valkyrie/Harry in for his too! I don't think you'll need much help from me Billy - but I can bring the drill bits & show you what to do. You can test drive mine and decide if you want to go larger or smaller on the hole size.
I haven't heard from Harry since he said he was going in for the Kook's headers/exhaust.
November 10 will mark 20 years of marital bliss for my wife & myself! This could end rather abruptly if I try to schedule the trans mod for the weekend we are supposed to take in Westchester County! I believe this will be the 12,13 & 14. So lets pick a date - hopefully Harry will read this or I'll have to PM him.
Paul

PS - Thanks Marty! Say hello to everyone @ Team Ford! Sorry I couldn't make it - I just couldn't get the time off!

Paul, Congrats on the 20 years. Life has been a bit busy here. Kooks are on. Sounds much better. I need a tune though. Maybe we can schedule a get together and perform couple of the trans mods. My trans in the 04 is slightly different from what I read. Does anyone know what the differences is?

All of ours are different from what you read - upgrades to most problem internals after '99. Long old thread in the "garage" forum titled "J - mod updates" that deals w/new style transmissions. We can do yours and Billy's on the same day with Marty's lift!

Yes Paul. I really do want to drive someone's Marauder who has performed the J-mod to it BEFORE I decide on this. So before anything, I'd want to take a ride to your homestate somewhere of your choosing, so I can experience your car. If you care to drive mine as well, ofcourse you're welcomed to do so also. So it would be good for us to do that first some time this month.

This weekend is out for the test drive meet. What about next weekend? We need a centrally located spot although I won't mind taking a ride on the ferry to get to CT so Billy can get a ride - I need to check out the casinos for future reference!

I would love to get in on a "get together and drill holes in the transmission" session, if you guys do it and have time for my car too I really want to do the J mod but am shy to do it myself. I know others are first so I won't be hurt if I can't get in on it, just wanted you to know I'm interested.

Okay guys, here's my story. I am off to Atlanta in a few hours to see the S****t P*****t and celebrate my birthday (it's my 21st in case anyone is asking).

When I get back from Atlanta I will have a better handle on my schedule and we can plan a get together. My neighbors will love it!!! No burn outs for you BIlly!!!!

Sound like a plan? Someone start another thread - we have sufficiently derailed this one!

This may turn into one of the bigger meets in the NE! I always wanted to open my own speed shop - I just never thought anyone would want to be a customer! LOL Maybe I should check w/Logan about becoming a vendor on this site - just kidding!
Happy Birthday Marty - safe trip! Regards to everyone in GA!
You want to start the next thread Danny?

Paul, I think that you and I (and whoever else wants) should first meet next weekend. Sunday afternoon would be best for me. I just wouldn't want to perform this J-mod thing until I first experience a Marauder that had this done. Afterall, there might be something about it that I don't like. And I can only decide that if I first drive your car. I'm not looking to completely hammer the car, just to see how the transmission shifts at half, or even three quarter throttle. BTW, I'm sorry, but I'm not into the casino thang. Too rich for my blood anyway. I'd rather put $$ into my Marauder than gamble it away.

But if you would rather come to my home state instead of me going there, then if you're into rifle target shooting, we can go shoot the big 50 caliber that I have.

Krytin
10-16-2004, 05:57 AM
My feelings exactly Billy - this is why I offer to let people test drive mine. I have had "shift kits" in some of my other cars' pre-electronic transmissions - they were all less effective than the "J - mod"! Still, any mod will change the way a car drives (that's why we do it!), not always to everyones likes. I think you will like it but there is some room to "adjust" the shifts by hole size selection. This is where the S/C & N/A cars will differ and where you & I will have to make "adjustments" to the mod IF you see a need for it when you test drive mine! we can always make holes bigger - you need a new seperator plate to make them small again!
Let me clear the schedule for next sunday and see where we can best meet.

I am jealous on all counts. Damn I missed my Dad this weekend, between my birthday, the Legal Knevil launch, and being with friends I know he would have enjoyed.

Damn, I am suddenly very depressed now.
