With 11,800 miles on my 300A,I`ve noticed a "whirring" sound possibly eminating from my stock torque converter?
Usually this is heard after pulling off from a stopped position and after gain speed the humming from our exhausts drowns out everything.
So, should I be concerned here? BTW, I`m no mechanic.

Try turning the wheel both to the right and to the left whiole parked w/the engine running. Do you hear it then? if so, that might be the power steering pump. Check the fluid in it. Just a guess on my part though w/out actually hearing it for myself.

Thanx Billy, quite familiar with power steering humming from ford automobiles. Have there been any issues in this regard from our tranny or torque converters? Plans are to let my dealer examine the Marauder sooner rather than later.

Not that I know of. But if I've missed something about that, then I'm sure someone will chime in here to help. But yes I agree that this is good reason to go to your dealer. Please let us know what it turns out to be.

This was on the site way back when.... Anyway, one of our own performance vendors popped in at that point and stated it was the tranny pump doing it's thing. He also stated that as long as you heard what sounded like a tubine spinning the pump was working great.....Not that it might be another problem with the another part of the system.

Thanks Billy and Murader03..that`s exactly what is sounds like a turbine type of sound. Now I have a place to start looking. I will still talk to my dealer to confirm. Much appreciated, thanks again.

I have experienced a similar issue with my MM. We found the dust boot on the rear trans. seal was dry,and causing this. We pulled the driveshaft and lubed the inner sufrace of the dust boot with teflon slip-yoke grease. The noise stopped.
Hope this helps.
