I hardly drive my MM...only on the weekends but my driver's seat is showing quite a bit of wear....looks like older leather already. It has all those cracks in it. I condition and clean it once a month. I can only imagine if i didn't.
I have a few friend that have old BMW's, Audi's, and VW's with leather who drive them every day the leather looks a ton better than mine...i know it European but still!!!
Could this be covered by a dealer to replace? I think it looks horrible.

What do you clean and condition it with?
I've used Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner on my cars for years and when I sold my 99 SHO the seats looked great.

I've been using a Meguire's leather conditioner. On occassion, when I'm feeling lazt, I'll use the wipes.

I had a 1985 Mercury that had defective leather. It was initially supple, but turned stiff and cracked.
Mercury did a recall and recovered all the seats.
Point it out to the Dealer, have them make a note in the file to preserve a warranty claim if it subsequently cracks

I'll have to bring it one day and show them because it looks worse than my Crown vic did with more miles.

My '04 with 5000 miles shows some "cracks" in the leather on the drivers seat also. I use the same cleaner & conditioner that we use on our leather sofa & recliners. The sofa & recliners show almost no "cracks" and they get more "seat-time".

To answer the question, yes that is a warrenty item, I have a 2003 with 12700 miles and to me the drivers seat was very worn and I took it in because little black specs started to come off the leather every once and a while, the seat covers, headrest, and foam pads were repleced under warrenty... I should also say that I priced a set of covers from "The Dealer" at about $600.00 for both front and back thinking that Ford was going to give me a problem replacing the covers but they did not.... and replaced the foam and headrest as well...:cool4:
