Anybody else have a sound like air escaping come from under the hood 5-10 minutes after parking?

Most likely all MMs and Town Cars and some GMs and CVs with rear air suspension. The system stays on for 1 hour after shutoff.

Just my .02 and then some.

I am not sure about 10 minutes later, but after you turn off car when A/C was running, you will hear a WHOOSH sound coming from A/C sealed system as the pressure stablelizes inside.

No specific one. However, I do make sure to burn 91. I thought it might have something to do with the suspension, that seems to be the consensus.

Only if I'm parked at Taco Bell, and the sound isn't coming from the hood.

My 2000 Crown Vic w/ the HPP and rear air suspension makes a Click-WHOOOSH sound a few seconds after parking and shutting off the car.

It's the rear air suspension intake snorkle venting out some air.

We joke around and say its Darth Vader's air intake kit. :woohoo:

If Darth Vader drove a car, it'd be a black Marauder, for sure!

That's what mine does, too...

Charlie...have you driven a Falcon XR8? I haven't but I heard it's awesome...

Nah I haven't been to Australia :( but its supposed to be quite a peppy ride with a 350+ hp 5.4L DOHC V8 in a smallish car body. :sing:

Sounds like you got enough responses. Here's one more :coffee:
Yep, definetly your rear suspension. Mine vents, not when I shut off the engine, but after I exit and shut my door.
I couldn't figure out what the noise was either until one day I parked, popped the trunk from the driver's seat, got out and while leaning on the rear bumper to get something, I noticed the rear end was slowly dropping. :banghead: That's when it hit me. It was the suspension venting.
I got back in the car and looked in the rear view mirror. I lined up something across the street with the rear deck and started the car back up.
The rear end came back up.
I thought it was the coolest thing.

You know, during one of my crazing thinking binges... I drew up a plan on how to tap into the air suspension system to give the user manual control over the individual air springs... and how to flick a switch and let it re-adjust automatically.
