Zack, Mac & Big Joe all have 4.10's. They woulda been thrilled to let you experience them! But in any case you will love the added bounce off the line you will get with them.

Brad, don't you have a reflash in your car? Won't you have to reprogram your car for the 410's?
hbarrett

You will have to reflash the PCM or your shift points and speedometer will be all messed up. I waited a couple of days after the gears were installed before reflashing the PCM in my '04 MM because I was busy, and I can tell you that you won't like it. The speedometer will be reading about 15% higher, and the shifting will be erratic. The 4.10s and the reflash are definitely the way to go for now. Good luck and enjoy!

Hmmm, May 11th birthday. Hardly proper to claim it under birthday festival month rules, but to count the gear set against your Christmas loot pile just doesn't seem right.
Did you call Wes and get the shiny hiney girdle & stud kit to properly hold them nifty gears in place?:burnout:

I asked DR on the phone about doing stud kit & girdle, he told me it was'nt necessary! It didn't sound like a big dollar upgrade, but I do have plenty of other potential mods in mind. What do you think Mike Poore& others, of these mods ?

It's a very low price to pay for the confidence, once you see that crap that's holding it's innards in there now, not to mention the luxury of being able to check the fluid level. Just call Wes and you'll have it by the install date
BTW, at Merc's request, I'll be posting the torque specs on a different thread, since there's been issues with some guys experiencing leaks with the girdle replacement.

I wouldn't do a big smokey burnout leaving the parking lot...there actually IS a recommended break-in procedure for new gears...something like "drive for 15 miles, then let them cool for 20 minutes, then repeat"...your installation tech can advise you...
Also, while the girdle and stud kits aren't strictly necessary, they ARE a very good idea once you start adding power...

Gears are in. Can't give the big endorsement yet,I thought with the SCT tuner I could make adjustments to the pcm with the tuner itself by following the prompts. Now I think,I can only make those changes if I can get them downloaded into the tuner then back to the car.

If you bought the tuner and gears at the same time, Dennis probably sent you a 4.10 set up in the tuner. Did he ask you for your MM's PCM code off the sticker on your driver's side front door sill?
Plug in your tuner and see if you have a xxxx 410PF tune (xxxx = your PCM code). That's the one you'll want to download and you'll be set. If not, give Dennis a call.

Speedo is not calibrated, (reads too high) shifting erratic
