I use Verizon to host my personal web space where I have been keeping, among other things, all of my progress photos of the S****t P*****t.
Well, I had used up 75% of my web space, so I decided to upgrade my account and add another 50MB so that I could add a bunch more photos that I have. I used Verizon's on line service for this and thought all was set.
I wake up this morning and go to post a few pictures, but lo and behold, my web space is "upgraded" but empty!! Apparently in Verizon's little world "upgrade" means "start over".
So now all of my prior work is gone! Ask me how happy I am, go ahead...... :cheesed:
Boy, I feel sorry for the first person that gets in my way in Court this morning!!! :gunfire: :gunfire:
And, yes, I spoke to Verizon's tech support. Can you say "not very helpful" They did however tell me to have a nice day! Bahhhhh!

Marty:
If you are looking for alternatives, since you are starting over anyway, you may want to look at www.no-ip.com.
They offer a free, basic services. You can get an easier address and don't need a static IP address. They will re-route traffic to your address.
Don't you have local copy of your webpage, before uploading? Or do they do all that online?
Good luck and have getting everything back!

Marty, does your local cable provider's high-speed internet service offer personal web pages? (even CABLE is better than Verizon... :shake: )

As I told the Verizon supervisor, I intend to see to it that Verizon loses as many customers as possible!!
I have avoided cable internet access only because I found that the cable is more likely to go out of service than the telephone lines over which I receive my DSL.
By the way, just what does DSL stand for anyway????

Another great idea from Verizon is to disable or re-configure the blackberry device in their phones so that you can only transfer your pics through their network. At a cost of (I believe) .25 each. What a ripoff! Just think, you have a phone that could transfer the pics free over your own wireless network and Verizon screws it up!
The only good thing about Verizon is their coverage. That is the only reason I use them. Their customer service sux. With competition, this virtual monopoly will change and they will have to care about the customer instead of putting the squeeze on them all the time.

Strange - around here US Cellular is the best for coverage. In the city they are all pretty much the same, and I've noticed that most carriers follow the interstate highways for coverage maps.
However, if you're out in a field in the middle of BFE, the coverage US Cellular has is the best around here. Too bad, because they aren't the greatest as far as knowing how things work.
The only good thing about Verizon is their coverage. That is the only reason I use them. Their customer service sux. With competition, this virtual monopoly will change and they will have to care about the customer instead of putting the squeeze on them all the time.

I think we were some of the first wth digital cable and cable internet. I think they started before I got it, and I've had it since 1996.
Great internet service in our area - cannot complain at all.

Sorry to hear of this Marty. There's so many companies that simply just carry on w/out any regard for their custimers. It's just business as usual, until they feel some damage to their finances due to lost business. That's pretty pathetic. So much for integrity. Reminds me of how I called the Ford racing catalogue department, and the guy who answered the phone really didn't give a rip about the fact that I as one of their customers had to perform a ring & pinion gear change a second time for no other reason than the fact that their catalogue does NOT inform the customer of a need for a special cross shaft pin in the case of their 4.56, 4.88, and 5.13 ratios.
And when I requested that their new catalogue atleast have an asterisk w/a foot note in it, he simply told me that I should've ground down the heel of all the teeth on the ring gear by hand!!! That's when he had to hear an earful from me. But it didn't make any difference to him.

Do they not have a backup copy of all the dat n the server in case of a disaster? If yes, they should be able to restore your data. Threaten them with something unpleasant.
