View Full Version : Alignment Spec's for Eibach springs

Hey:

I did a search but came up empty. Can anyone out there, with Eibachs installed, share their alignment spec's after the install?

I'm finally looking into getting all the stuff installed I have at home, and would like to have some numbers to take to the shop.

And yes, I have ridden in cars with the Eibachs installed, I like it and I'm getting new shocks at the same time. I will also have the spring rate compared between the two. (Thanks for the heads up on that one, Mark!)

TIA!

Peter

Peter,

If Shankin (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=1804) wasn't on vacation this week (much to Marty's chagrin) I could get those numbers for you. He'll be back on Saturday and I can have them for you 1st of next week, though...if that will help?

Early next week is great. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I went with stock specs with a hair more negative camber....like 0.1 degree more neg??? I forget...it was in March that I had it done. Otherwise, it was stock specs.

I have 1 turn cut off my front coils and it sits only a hair higher than the eibach's but still noticably lower than stock.

Borrowing someone else's alignment specs is like wearing their tailored pants, you don't want to go there.

The OEM alignment specs were screwed up for a while, and tires were wearing out fast. Many of us went out and got our own, and now they include our personal handling preferrences and like the cut of a custom trouser, you may not like the final fit. Even Kenny Brown has his own alignment spec for the Marauder S, and the car is a dream to drive, but you won't like what it does to the inside 2" of tire, and it wears fast.

Find a professional "4 wheel" Hunter alignment machine nearest you, and talk with the wrench about what you're looking for. The correct specs are available to Hunter now, and you can go with straight up OEM, or, dial in you own desires. Average cost around here is 49 bucks.

Just my .02C...

The problem with these springs, is yes this will throw off your alignment, and then it can max out the alignment so that it cannot be corected so good luck.

Use the stock specs.
Kenny Brown uses the stock specs as well.

Dennis,

This sounds like you don't endorse the Eibach route. If this is true, what do you recommend if a customer wants a lower stance?

Not to speak for Dennis, but there are some here that like the Eibachs and use them. Others have cut their stock springs 1/2 to 1 full turn to lower the car. Not sure what Dennis (if anything) does.

I personally like the ride with the Eibachs.

Please take all other comments and questions of this thread. I'm not looking for opinions, if they are good or bad. :Offtopic:

I do appreciate the input about finding your own spec's one prefers. Which is what I have with my current OEM springs.
Just looking for a starting point for the Eibachs, which it seems, are the OEM spec's.

Thanks everyone for your input!

If you do a search of the site you will find there are a lot of members that have tried them and love them and then there are members that have had nothing but trouble with them, they throw the caster so far out in some cars there is no room for adjustment, and in my opinion they ruin the ride of the car, I have heard of members taking a half of loop off the stock spring. I my self leave them alone

Everyone has their own person preference. I cut 1 full turn off of mine, had the car realigned, and am very pleased with the ride, stance, and handling.

Mac, you do realize that is Todd you are talking to, no? You feelin' alright??? I think someone should be dispatched to the Windy City to check under his bed for an open pod. :)

Just out of curiosity Mac (crossing fingers the thread police allow this transgression), why, other than choice, can't you send/receive PM's? And "none of your bidness" is an acceptable answer.:cool4:

Gentlemen...Just asking for 411 on suspension mods for the MM, nothing more. If I am out of line in asking, no one told me. Question withdrawn, carry on.

Things of beauty. With OEM shocks having only about 2" of travel, lowering the car with Eibachs or cutting springs, you're still going to only have about 1" of travel. That's why ride quality suffers, moreso on Eibachs because the springs are stiffer than OEM's. These coil-over shocks are the answer - the ability to lower the car by just dialing it down to desired height, yet still maintain lots of travel, means we will enjoy much better ride quality out of our lowered cars. I am truly looking forward to these going on my car.

Who, what, where, how much? Inquiring wallets want to know. :D

Who, what, where, how much? Inquiring wallets want to know. :DWho? can't disclose that right now

What? QA-1 rear shocks (pictured on the left) and custom built front, fully adjustable coilovers (pictured on the right)...but, don't call QA-1...they won't know what you're talking about.

Where? when the "Who" is disclosed...you'll know where

How much? a lot less than you would think...

Stay tuned...those coming to Atlanta this weekend will be able to see (and hopefully drive) them first-hand.
