View Full Version : Metco intake tube, am I crazy?

Am I crazy (don't answer that!) or is throttle tip in ever so slightly quicker with the stock intake tube out and the Metco carbon fiber tube in its place? I swear I have to be a little easier on the throttle at launch now or I get a more agressive initial launch than I intended.

I really wasn't looking for any change in how the engine behaved, as I thought of this just an under-hood visual enhancement.

Then again, maybe it's the cooler weather making the car a little snappier off the line. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

You bought a Marauder, and you're hanging here...I think the remaining 98% of the world would find you a bit off balance.

Regardless, it's probable that the Metco tube is responsible for improved throttle response. The smoother air path carries more value than you expected, I'm not surprised.

After months of having your car in the shop for repairs created a usual side effect. This delusional effect can translate to odd throttle responses and a gripping sensation while holding baseball bats. :cowboy:

Well, it's very subtle, and definitely does not show any difference anywhere except for the very first split second that you hit the throttle from idle. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely NOT a performance boost, just a very slight change in behavior. No complaints, mind you, just curious if anybody else had noticed the same.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the install resulted in a quicker throttle response and SOP feeling. I would recommend this mod to anyone who's tired of looking at the ugly intake snorkel....besides the Metco setup sounds great!

I've got one pic in my gallery here at mm.net.

Convoy next year all depends upon where MVIII is. If it's too far east then I'm probably not going to make it. We'll see.

Thanks. They're very nice. The fit is very tight, but with a little grunting they eventually slip into place. I'm all for anything to spruce up the engine bay a bit.

in a minute IF someone can verify
ANY difference in low end torque/acceleration...

OR

any other cold air intake product (cheaper than a S/C)
that I can add-on to the Bad A-- Car...

My favorite quote from someone seeing the MM for the first time...

"That's a BADD A-- CAR!"

P.S. thinking of widening the wheels FOUR INCHES with LIDIO
will it work? look good? any tires for all-season traction?

As per my previous posts: I haven't seen any difference in low end torque or acceleration that I can detect. What I do notice is quicker initial throttle response. But this is only evident at initial throttle tip in.

In my opinion it's a cosmetic mod. I'm not knocking it, I love it. Just don't expect to pick up any real performance numbers from it.
