The black Plastic Strip which runs along the bottom of this piece broke apart in my hand. It split in several places right below the license plate where the piece is very thin and flimsy. I got some super glue and black out tape holding it together now so it doesn't completly fall apart going down the road...

What are the odds this is a warranty item? I'm sure Ford will say it was due to excessive force closing the trunk lid but it really did just fall apart.

Anyone else experience this?

I have not but I would take to the dealership and see what they say. It should be covered under warranty. I hope you get this fixed right.

That particular piece is a POS. I keep expecting the same thing to happen to me.

It's either use that or touch the paint while closeing the trunk. Everyone knows not to do that on a Marauder.

Seriously, I guess there is another way but who really wants to concentrate that much on closeing a trunk. Usually you have your hands full and are going somewhere.

Suggestion:
When closing the trunk lid, use the `beloved` rear emblem -- the 3 hockey sticks provide the right amt of grab. BTW, I have spoilers on both of my MMs so the rear emblem is not very noticeable.

It should be covered under warranty

As "flimsy" as it may seem, these pieces have been on CVs and PIs since '98. i don't think this is a common happenstance.
Could someone have hit it, causing a fracture?
