Borla makes one for the dual exhaust Ford Crown Victoria. Has anyone used this one? Does anyone else make one for either the dual exhaust CV or MM?

Don't think it'd work for the MM, seeing how we have a DOHC vs. the CV's SOHC, the exhaust manafolds are different, and probably different in length, which would off set hanger points throught the car.
However, I may be wrong...

this is a cat back, after the catalyst pipe. the mid pipe starts in the same exact place. hangers are similar position. i just had a chance to look under a CV sport tonight w/ the dual exhaust set up. it was dark but to the best of my opinion, it should bolt right on. just the tip outlet is different, they are turn down like CV instead of shotguns like the MM.

NICE :burnout:

Yes, but wouldn't the positioning of the exhaust manafold effect the positioning of the cats, essentially pushing the whole system forward or backward? Maybe not... I just can't see it directly bolting up.

I've been watching the exhaust upgrade market rather closely, even had two pros look at my MM for advice. What we got on the MM from the factory is more than adequate, performance wise, at this time.
As it stands today, there is nothing "bolt-on" that's worth the money. You can switch out to something like Flowmaster mufflers for sound, but no identifiable performance gain.
The Borla system is a whole kit, I haven't found it available in separate parts, like a 2.5 "H" pipe I'm looking for. Borlas do not have tips, only turn downs, and because it's an upgrade to a stock CV, maybe adding dual exhaust to a single exhaust CV, it's overall performance gain over factory is notable. Yet, this kit adds nothing to the MM system in place, and isn't worth the coins for the whole kit.
Reinhart and Hyland both offer custom fabricated systems, long tube headers, custom H pipe, everything you need, front to back. Pricey, maybe 1500. by the time you add your options. Performance wise, you're getting at best, maybe add 10 HP over stock, and both will tell you, that these systems really won't perform their best, until you supercharge.
One more thought, if you do have someone fabricate custom pipes, make sure they match the factory specs as closely as possible, that H pipe for sure. If it doesn' match, you may end up with a painful groan in the cabin at cruise.
I'm sticking with my factory stuff for now, see what comes down the road. Sound is important, but I'm a performance guy. Everything I add to my MM must show a performance gain first, and even then, it has to be worthwhile. Case in point, 200. for pulleys that add maybe 5 HP, isn't worth it right now. When I want those five ponies, I may pay up...IMHO.
Anyone come up with any ideas, please drop back here, I think a lot of us are waiting.
Why is there 2 identical threads? (one for each pipe?! hahaha).

i looked at the Borla for quality - stainless t304 pipes and mufflers. the stock look like inferior stainless 409 pipes and aluminized mufflers. if the Borla is the same size (2.25"), i may get it. the exhaust manifolds are very short. the primary mid pipe has the cats on it - then there is a secondary mid pipe that goes to the mufflers. this point after the cats looks identical from CV sport dual to MM other than the back section over the rear axle where the MM has the Megs 24" tips instead od 12" bullet resonators and another 12" of pipe that eventually turns down at the end.

I know first hand that there is a Borla system that works (which one I am not certain) the performance gains from a cat back system do NOT justify the expense... just a couple of horse and that is on a supercharged maraud
the dyno doesn't lie! and I would say spend the money on a torque converter, dyno proven results there..

Sarge:
Can you tell what the idea is with the swap in pulleys? I haven't picked up on that yet.
Thanks!

Stan...Easier for you to read about it here. Go to our home page, and type "steeda" in the search function, you'll get a handful of tips about pulleys, and some reference info on warranties. Happy hunting!

Joe...I'm still not sure which car you're speaking of, if you want to do all this to a CV-CV/PI, it looks like you have a plan. If you want to do this to a stock MM, I'd ask why, but it's your money too. Good luck!

Sarge: thank you for that...I respect your opinion and I've been waffling over getting the pulleys or not...per the above, I think I've pretty well decided not...maybe if they were more like $75...
I know adding a few horsepower here and there can add up, but so does the cost...
Like the Congressman said: "A billion here and a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money..."

I know someone that put that cat back Borla on their car and there was like no increase in power, does sound nice though.
You have to change the cats and the exhaust manifold to get this thing to breathe better.

I don't have a MM but I do have borla on my Taurus SHO and I love it. Sounds Awesome.

Looks like you've got a lift at home AND you've found some shop floor paint that does not lift off and stick to your hot tires! I'm jealous on both counts!
