Hi guys.

I was reluctant to post this thread since I suspect someone may have just stuck this emblem on my marauder, (I bought it used from a car lot 2 months ago, even though the car salesman swears no-one there put the sticker on... and for once I believed him). However, I am curious enough so here goes...

Does anyone else have the "Police Interceptor" sticker/emblem on the trunk of their marauder? It's just like police cars have... in the same exact place. I'll post a pic when I pry my digital camera from the cold fingers of my ex-wife....

Also, some strange things with my marauder are:

1) Extra holes drilled in the bottom of the headlight casing, (about 3\4" diameter)

2) Holes drilled behind the front grill in the metal support beams/frame/whatever... (don't know what to call it) where either flashing lights would be visible behind the grill, or perhaps a siren??

Ok, I'm not a total slacker, so I did do some investigative work on my own... I did a CarFax which told me that the car had one previous owner.. a corporation. Typing my VIN into the Mercury website yielded similar inconclusive results: one owner, a corporation. Nothing was mentioned about a law enforcement agency...

Ok, before I start rambling about speculations, can anyone clue me in?? Does anyone else out there have this sticker? Is it available to the public?

Thanks.

Most likely a security outfit. The 3/4" holes in your casings are for strobes, as you suspect, the others would be for lights behind the grill.

That sticker was definately added after the fact, no if's and's or but's about it. They're easily available online for 10-20$...

There is no police package for the Marauder. The previous owner must have slapped the emblem on there. Please remove it.

1. Those are the holes from having strobes in the headlights. Be prepared for condensation and hazing to occur. The Feds did the same thing with my P71 and I eventually replaced the headlights.

2. You are correct, either a siren or a set of lights were installed here. If there are 2 pair identical holes, then it was from the brackets that mounted the emergency lights.

Logan is probably correct. The only other thing I can think of is a emergency equipment company/installer that could have used the Marauder as a demo vehicle. However, you would probably have quite a few more holes if that was the case.

If I remember correctly there was one on EBAY back a few months ago with the PI emblem.

It could have been a vol fireman's car.

Maybe it was "THE" corporation.

Ok, Embassy. I removed the emblem. I didn't like people behind me getting the wrong idea anyway... I was just curious about the possibility of the "police package". A phone call to a Mercury representative confirmed your statement that there is no "police package" to date for the '03 Marauder.
Thanks as well for your warning regarding the headlight condersation and hazing. Since this has already begun, I'll be changing mine out as well.

Ok, mystery solved... thanks again for your's and Logan's replies.

Was'nt that the one with the emblem and they were saying it was supercharged w/o pics of the engine?

Why remove the emblem? There is no law anywhere that states you can't have it on a MM or civilan CV as long as you are not acting like a cop.

Just my .02 and then some.

The Florida Highway Patrol has several Marauders and Mach 1's they are using for undercover aggressive driver task forces. They are equiped with undercover equipment like the strobes and sirens. Had a big press conference over the summer showing some of the cars.

What Roy said. Why should anyone care? His MM is a "police interceptor" and then some. It's not for me, but if it floats yer boat...?

FYI. . .there are now "4.6 Interceptor" and "Pursuit Vehicle" emblems out there.
They are off of the '05 CV PI. Much less conspicuous than the "Police Interceptor" emblem. :bandit:

Sounds like it's set up similar to mine... badge and all. I might have a few more lights hidden somewhere and a few more mechanical improvements (classified) than yours. How many miles are on it? That car might "technically" not exist.

Hey G-Man!

There are (appr.) 25,000 miles on the car. It's a black '03 that I bought used a couple months ago.

I just have a feeling this car was used for... something, I don't know what. There are signs of it all over the car, though nothing too obvioius. Such as very small holes, (screw holes probably) on the side of the shifter center console, (right where some sort of computer display might be mounted... hey, I watch Cops!) lol. But it's little things like that all over the car.

You have my curiousity roused again. Is there anything you can tell me that isn't classified? Would, perhaps, a federal agency show up as a "corporation" on a CarFax report? Anything you can tell me would make my day. I love this car, and don't plan on getting rid of it, well... ever! I'd just love to know more about what it may have been used for before I bought it. If you need to shoot me a private email.
I attached a couple pics, (they may show up in the email... not sure how this client will take it) of the rear of the car and interceptor badge.

Thanks for your time, G-Man...

http://home.comcast.net/~hack_goby/DCP_0872.jpg Santino was one of the first guys in the Detroit area to get a Marauder and he change it to give it that "Cop Marauder" look even as far as putting a go-rhino push bar on the front. But he was also one of the first to sell his Marauder when he decided to get a Cobra Mustang. He traded it in at Russ Milne so your car insn`t this one but he sure had the look.

Here, here. I was a bit surprised to see a Marauderer asking another Marauderer to take something off his car but, hey, to each his own, right?

I am thinking about putting one on my car just for fun. :) I'm pretty tight with some of the fellas in the local PD and it should really make them jealous.
