HI gang;

I am the now proud new owner of a lovely, black 2003 MM - purchased during a gorgeous lunar eclipse this evening at Denny Andrews Ford, here in Edmonton, AB. (Hmmm.. was it a looney decision??)

It has 80000 km on it (roughly 50000 Miles) and is in excellent condition. I will pick it up on Friday night.Drivetrain warranty has some 20000 km to go before it expires. Bumper to bumper is expired.

I am being offered the following Ford warranties:
POWERTRAIN CARE - engine, drivetrain, etc. about C$1280 for 3 yrs,
BASE CARE - a bit more - I forget the price.
EXTRA CARE $C1890 3 yrs, 60000 more km
PREMIUM CARE - C$2280 3 years

suggestions? My inclination is to say "No thanks", as there is still 20000 km of drivetrain warranty left - other ideas, opinions?

TIA

Marvin

if you've still got powertrain coverage, you're fine. take the service contract money and spend it on mods!:)

The question is,, do you feel lucky? I purchased the Premium on my Lincoln when I purchased it used,, yes it was pricey, BUT by the end of the contract it had more than paid for itself. Airbags in the shocks, motor mounts, 4 steering gear boxes, and a complete engine. The comfort of having no unexpected repair bills was a comfort for me. Thats just my .02 and if you plan on doing any mods the opinion expressed is void :lol:

I have a suggestion,Buy the warranty!! at least extra care.Besides the repair,Extended warranty covers towing/roadside asst.,a instant (day one) rental reimbursment,parts(including fluids & gaskets), labor. If one major item fails you will be $$ ahead;)

If you are going to buy, buy the premium if not you are likely to have parts not covered when you take the car in, so in short all or nothing... as far as if you should get extended service or not its a gamble plain and simple.....

Marvin - Welcome to the MM site. I think I would take an extended warranty on a vehicle with 50,000 miles . Like stated above an extended warranty is a gamble. IMO it is better to be safe than sorry.

Is it going to stay mechanically stock?
