Would someone please clue me, and maybe some other Newbies, in to what the "300A" and "300B" designations mean? Are they identified in the VIN or elsewhere on the car? Thanks for solving this burning mystery for me.

Do a search on "300A" or "300B" and read away. This topic has been discussed once or twice here before.

Or maybe even ten or twenty times!
'03 only had 300A and 300B versions. 300A was early models and was only black, had pockets in the front of the front seats, had a clock in the dash instead of in the radio, had a remote gas door release, did not have traction control, had a full size spare. 300B was late '03 production and did not have the gas door release, no map pockets in front of the seats, mini-spare, clock in radio instead of dash, had traction control, and was black, silver, or blue. Probably all 300A models also had dark interiors, not sure. A couple of other little differences too.

^^^everything FordNut said^^^
Plus: '03 300As have an automatic parking brake release, and metal grilles over the rear speakers; 300Bs have neither. All '04s are 300As and are outfitted like '03 300Bs.
There are a few 300Bs that have one or more of the 300A accessories...it seems like they ran out of them on the assembly line at different times...

Are you sure? The mini spare is the same diameter as the regular tires, the full size spare is a mag like the ones on the car except it is not polished. If there was ever a 300B made in '04 this is the first I've heard of it.

There are no 2004 300B's......all are A's.
On the 2003 model's check your window "sticker"....
tells you if you're an A or B.
IMHO the 2003 A's got the best deal!!
Gotta Love It! :beatnik:

I have a 2004 300B and it has a full size spare.
All Marauders equipped with traction control had the mini spare installed at the factory.

Thanks to all for the info. No surprise this inevitable Q. has been around many laps, but couldn't squelch my curiosity. And i am not website savvy enough to have even thought about doing a search, much less know how to do one, but will give it a go. :help: Looks like you all gave me a pretty good start on the abc's of A's and B's. The 'A' had some features that, imo, are more upscale and luxo'. Evidently as often is the case, something was started with better intent than what later budgets allowed.
Two other dumb Q's: is there an indication of A or B in the '03's VIN, or how do you tell otherwise; and, for those experienced driving '03's and '04's, is it true that the '04 trans. shift programming is improved over '03, or is it a personal preference thing?
Thanks again for the answers. Havn't been on in over a week and just had a chance to look at them. i'm really looking forward to getting some real wheel time in my '04, love it so far. :banana2: Might even get wife and daughter interested in attending one of the MM meets. :) Joe
