Hello all,
New MM owner.
Strikes me as kind-of funny that the overhead display is nothing more than a compass...I would imagine the Grand Marquis has some sort of trip computer in this location.....perhaps with fuel statistics (MPG, DTE...)
Anyone have any thoughts on this or know if the display can be upgraded?
Thanks,
Eric

Been there, tried to do that for Hell Boy.
Bottom line is that the cost of doing it would be prohibitive, assuming you could get all of the wirining harness/sensor issues squared away.

I just wish I could get a numerical heading in degrees. That'd be tight.

Dennis's gonna get a company do the guage pod thing similar to what they put in the "secret project car" in Atlanta and he mentioned putting in a trip computer as well as a ton of other goodies. I will be getting it.

Maybe this could fit up there? I don't have a 300B, my clock is in the radio and I like the knee bolster clean right now. However I reserve the right to change my mind right after this post. :D

I think on the regular GM all the trip computer stuff is in the dash itself. Kinda chaps me too that they didn't include the trip computer on this car.

No, not native to Utah. And it's more of an aviation fixation, really. I'd have a HUD and MFDs all over the place if I could. :)

If we could put that bad boy in the overhead console spot for the compass, wouldn't that be sweet!
Welcome, Eric. Where do you live?

I believe the Town Car essentially uses the same overhead console with all the trip functions. The "mode" button was not put there for nothing. Its too bad about the wiring.

I think they dropped it because when driving a car, even a moment of attention diversion can have diasatrous consequences. HUD is deceptive because you still have your eyes pointed in the right direction, but your attention really is diverted. I won't be getting one.

Dennis: I think he wants a trip data computer. I thought your computer dealio was going to do OBDII related stuff and not trip computer stuff. Am I wrong?

The info sensor will have a trip computer function as well. Here is demo of how it will work http://www.scanguage.com/Demo%20Trip.htm

The new Cadillac STS has one, and it's in color.
Go figure.
