I just purchased a wrecked 2003 MM and about to install this drive train in my 99 Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I have a couple questions that need answered before I do the engine swap:

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>

1. Can the PCM be flashed/chipped to eliminate the PATS system in the MM PCM? (I don’t have the MM HEC or ignition keys). The Crown Vic PI does not have the PATS system installed.

<o:p> </o:p>

2. If I go with the returnless type MM fuel system, do I need to install the MM fuel pump only? Are there any other changes required to use the returnless fuel system (ie. additional fuel pump relays, sensors, etc) on the CV?

<o:p> </o:p>

3. If I use the existing CV return fuel system, are there any PCM changes required to recognize the returnless fuel pressure sensor will not work. (I realize the fuel rails require modification for a return line and fuel pressure regulator)

<o:p> </o:p>

4. Are there any other major issues I should be concerned with before making the engine swap?

<o:p> </o:p>

I’ve already performed many searches on different forums and have not found a definite answer to my questions.

<o:p> </o:p>

Thanks for any help.

<o:p> </o:p>

If your wrecked MM has little or no damage to the wiring harness I'd guess that you can get yourself an electrical diagnosis/wiring diagram manual and replace the wiring harness AND PCM when you do the engine swap. Using the MM's PCM could be the critical issue here. So what if the thing thinks it's a Marauder?

If I had the same parts you've got I'd be thinking about going ABS/TC, air ride rear, as much stuff as you can to replace as well as the engine.

I would like to see pictures of this project. As a CV owner, I have entertained the idea of doing a similar swap, but have been told the the DOHC heads will NOT clear the suspension on any panthers prior to '03 without some major modifications that would make the project cost prohibitive.
