I was wondering what are the differences in '03's and '04's besides the colors offered and transmissions.

One I've noticed is the dash, specifically the carbon fiber area below the radio. I've seen digital clocks in that area on '03's but my '04 doesn't have. No need really when there's a clock in the radio above.

thanks for looking and replying if you do!

All the 300A 03's and a few 300B's had the stand alone clock

Other diff. 2004 have dual knock sensors smaller torque converters
Traction control/heated seats. Most 2003's don't have these except for the 300B's in late 2003

2003 300A's all black/dark charcoal interior. only options are 6 disc changer and trunk organizer. has full spare (front sized tire on polished rim), front seat map pockets, auto e-brake release, locking gas door, stand alone clock. Canadian MMs also had standard traction control.
2003 300B's black, blue (from 11/15/02) (328 made),silver birch(from 3/03)(417 made) with either dark charcoal or light flint (after 11/15/02). some "transitional" MMs (VIN 655000) had some 300A stuff deleted like the full spare but added traction control. options the same as above plus heated seats.
2004 300A black, Dark Toreador Red, or silver Birch w/ either Dark Charcoal or Light Flint. Different trans, torque converter, & PCM tuning. options same as 2003 300B.

What size is the torque converter on a 2003? The 2004 Marauder gets a new electronically controlled, 4R75W heavy-duty, four-speed with overdrive, automatic transmission for greater efficiency and low-end torque, along with an improved shift response. Other refinements include the addition of needle bearings and Teflon seals to the new reinforced, brazed, 11.25 inch, high-stall-speed, heavy-duty torque converter, with a one-inch, one-way clutch. The engine can rev higher, thus reaching its power band before the automatic transmission transmits power. This new transmission provides quicker up-shifts and downshifts, and lets the driver “kick down” into first gear at a higher speed. This produces quicker acceleration. The automatic transmission has also been beefed up to handle the V8's extra torque output. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Nice cut&paste there, chasrein01.

My 2004 came with mini spare. Dealer told me only two options available besides the color schemes, 6-CD changer and heated seats.

Mine had Traction Control standard. It did not have (according to the dealer) trunk organizer, electric fuel door release, full size spare or automatic parking brake release available. I have corrected the fuel door release by following the directions VegasMarauder, a member here, has generously provided in his fuel door thread.

I will also do the Parking brake release, which VegasMarauder has also detailed, soon after I get Supercharged so I can use the manual release for my parachute mod. Very important for that one to be purely mechanical. The armored rear shield, oil slick and passenger ejection seat mods, as well as the machine gun, flame thrower and rocket launcher mods can be electrically controlled. :D

You like that?!?! Just trying to help! (Good natured response). My 04 is DTR with 4 options, moonroof, heated seats, trunk organizer, and 6 disc CD. I splurged and got the dealer installed spoiler, Marauder car cover, and remote start for those cold mornings! Will be looking to get the Trilogy in early summer (sneak it past the wife, had to buy her an Escape so I could get mine!!!).

Thanks Sarge, I thought the 04 tranny had been upgraded. It still works better with a Lidio chip, but not for winter driving. :D

There are a few other things I believe are different on the Early 03's. They are The fully polished full size spare..then went with full size unpolished I have this version on my car built 09.06.02 ,Underhood light, rear deck shelf speaker grills, Dark 4 1/4" Sun Shade @ top of windshield,And the drivers side coil cover had an 32Valve emblem. I'm not sure where Vin #'s started dropping these above items? I also believe that the 04's had a shorter overhead counsel ( Before The Sunroof Option ) and the rear window defroster inlay is a tan color where as the 03's where dark russet Brown. I have also wondered how many American cars had shipped there product with a picture of the car doing a Burnout in the Owners manual....I gotta say ....Some times It's the little things that intrigue me. @ one time Mercury made a car worth owning and they CALLED HER MARAUDER...

03's had a CD and black & white poster @ Drag Strip.......... The top left in bold said
2003 MARAUDER. The bottom right said........think of it as a 300-horsepower black leather jacket. These had nothing to do with the cars but thought it was worth mentioning.

Both of my MMs are 06/02 builds, no polished spare, just the full size tire and matte finish wheel.

Late 2004 models had the Moonroof as a Factory Install option.
