Big Brother in Autoweek 11/8/04

In this weeks Autoweek there is an interesting article. Not being an alarmist or worry-wart, does bring up some good points. Here in Texas we have a new Legislative session that's going to start in January. May write a few letters. Being in law enforcement I believe this information should be available only by warrant or owners approval. Not just by anyone.

Anyone know what placing a big ol' magnet by the recorder does? I'm seriously thinking about doing this in both of my cars.

It drives me crazy that the reason these silly recorders showed up was so the mfgr's could protect themselves. Now it is potentially going to bit the consumer in the butt. My car, my driving, my info...end of arguement.
