I just noticed I get a squeek every time the defrost/a/c cycles. Not very loud but you can hear it every cycle.only lasts a moment.who's got a guess? broke or just a adjustment/ belt issue?

I'd guess a bad A/C clutch.

Yup. I've got the same noisy clutch here too. I'm going to wait until spring and then take it in for a fix. I'm sure by then 5 or 10 more things on my car will need warranty repair anyway. :D

I know that I might sound like a broken record to some people here, but incase you haven't caught my other posts about this, it might be due to a serpentine belt which has lost it's elasticity characteristics. I've switched to the Goodyear "Gatorback" Poly-V belts for both my serpentine accessory drive pullies as well as my S/Cer pulley because they grip much better than the standard 6 rib and 8 rib belts do, and therefore eliminate the chirps, and squeals from momentary belt slips. At first I thought that Goodyear's claims about these Gatorback belts were just sales hype, but after trying them I can tell you that their claims aren't just hype, and that they're accurate. My 6 ribbed accessory drive serpentine belt was the one that was squealing slightly for about a half second now and then during acceleration as well as deceleration, and once I went to the Gatorback belt, it no longer made the noise.

Not only do the Gatorback Poly-V belts grip better because they have cross-cuts in the ribs that look like an Alligator's back or like a snow tire, but they also have a tougher, and slighty thicker backing so that they will hold-up better to engine heat w/out losing their elasticity characteristics. For those who are interested here's a link to the search feature of the Goodyear site that features the "GatorBack Poly-V" belts, where you can type in the aftermarket part# of the standard serpentine belt for your car to cross reference it w/the Gatorback belt needed. Or you can simply type in the year, make, and model of your car. I've provided the links for inquiring minds, but for your information I can tell you that the Gatorback Poly-V serpentine belt part# that you'll need is 4060922 for NON-Supercharged Marauders.

...and here below is a link to the webpage that describes the Gatorback belts. but if you do purchase one, you'll immediately notice the difference in the appearence of the belt as compared to the standard type 6 ribbed belts.

Hehe. Now if I could just get rid of the little squeeks and rattles. I guess it's par for the course as hard as my car was hit.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your posts,I agree with what you say Billy(Gatorback Performance ),I have seen those belts I heard/tell you speak of.But since It is occuring at all engine speeds ,I'm inclined to belive the A/C clutch is the source. But I won't wait long to get it to the dealer cause,I dont want to be without defroster:bs:

Bradley GI guess I read that wrong, that it squeaks when it goes from defrost to A/C. Last time I was at HVAC school they said the A/C compressor is on for the defroster as you can't defog using humid air and the defroster works better with the hot and dry air too.

I wonder why a guy would say, "It squeaks." without saying where it's coming from?

I heard a new squeak this weekend too!

Actually, it was more of a squeal, a longer squeak, but it was her first ride in my MM, and she love on-ramps.

Sorry David I was'nt clear on my post :If the HVAC is on defrost or air conditioning when the clutch cycles (engages)you can hear a brief squeek. It happens every time at same noise level (not sensitive to engine speed)
