I had a new customer drive in from south Florida today, in his silver 04 we installed Densos 180 stat and 4:10's the car 800 miles on the clock, while the guys were working on his car we went to lunch, and we talked about his car said he bought one with a factory sun roof and I said as far as I know there was no true factory roof,because I was told they did not pas the crash test, so Ford had the sunroofs subed out, he said his was not and when we got back I looked at as far as I can see it does in deed have one.

Now if you look even his digital display is diferent the 04 I have here the display says S N E W his display spells it out so again this is a first for me.

I did put an after market roof on though :)

Our DTR is the same. It sounds like the ones with the moon roof spell it out, the ones that don't, don't. I had just assumed that was an upgrade for all the 04's.
Oh well, you know what they say... Never assume anything. :)

I remember reading somewhere that the compass display settings are user configurable.

Here's what I know about this. 2004 MMs with VINs that start with "2ME" have no moonroof. VINs with "2MH" have it. The "H" states that the car is "incomplete" which means that it is shipped out elsewhere to have moonroof job done. You can tell that it is an aftermarket job. There is a mounting ring that goes around the glass and also fits on top of the roof panel. On a car that has a true factory moonroof, there is no ring, just the roof and the glass. The glass may have a chrome or black ring around it to hold the weatherstrip seal.

I will state this, Ford did a nice job with the roof console with the control switch.

Just my .02 and then some.

Well then...there you have it...you can NO LONGER be even considered as the "Top '04"...in fact, this moves you to the bottom of the list and now your XXL jacket you're trying to sell...is virtually worthless... :P

That was the reason I stayed away from the moonroof. I didn't like the fact that the car was shipped somewhere else to have it installed. Also, the fact that it does not look flush with the roof. IMHO just asking for leaks later.

There's guys in the Baltimore area (east of the beltway) calling themselves "Smooth Finishes". They've installed two Moon Roof(s) for us, and first class Leather Seating in three vehicles. Wabasto is the company who manufactures/installs the Moon Roof for Ford and that's the unit these guys use. If you call Crouse Ford Sales in Taneytown, MD they can put you in touch with the guys. Ask for Tom Crouse. ;)

Pls read my sig below and get the Model nbr from my Blue MM. Then call Adler & Mandel in Rockville and schedule an appmt -- cost is about $1100. I usually takes one day or just a little bit more.
ASC makes an excellent sunroof for aftermarket.

The overhead console is a Lincoln Town Car part. It is used on 03/04 Town Car without the reverse parking aid system. The Town Car uses an oil change reminder , that's what the "reset" button is for on the console. In the MM, that button does nothing.

What Carfixer said was backed up by Steve Babcock at the Legal Knevil unveiling. The console for moon roofs is a Town Car console, though the ECM does not send it information like oil change intervals, it does display directions spelled out and not in abbreviations. Also look at the picture of the console.... those two holes on either side of the control for the sunroof are LED's that are "mood lights" that shine down onto the lower console and shifter.
