A live marmot? Me and some buddies pulled one out one time. Technically, it wasn't IN the engine, just sitting on the bell housing for about 30 minutes. When we finally convinced it to depart and it scurried into woods, we all knew that that marmot was going to have the best pick-up line that night at the marmot bars ("So, baby, wanna know how I got this greasy burn scar on my tail ....")

Technically yes, but I'm looking for more specifics.

crankshaft? pistons?
OOH...OOH...Getting very very warm...

Engine? Cast crank?
Sorry, Mary, you had a hint from my E-mail, so did Slowpoke.

Wrong size/type piston?, rods?, heads?, valves?, etc,etc...
BINGO! We have a winner! Jim, you may have had a hint as well, but the use of "wrong" cut the finish line tape.

The correct answer is "eight bolt crank," and according to some of our resident spec heads here, this is impossible. So, I have the wrong crank. BTW, I also have the wrong block, it has six bolt mains...Oh well, guess I have my work cut out for me locating the correct Marauder parts.

I suppose this isn't much of a big deal after all, but I just wanted to have some fun over the weekend. Everything else here seems so full of drama lately, and there some ROTFLMAO posts. Thanks for participating.

BDJ, your Zack grill is in production and I'll ship it out to you when done.

No need to change flex plate, or anything else for that matter. My MM has the original bone stock OEM engine, code 3G-120-AA, June 2002 build on the car and engine dob says 03-02...?

Sarg that is very interesting, can you tell if that 8 bolt crank
happens to be cast or is it perhaps forged? Also does your
engine have the stock cast connecting rods or are they also different?

Don't you have to pull the engine to get to the crank? Oh well I got an honorable mention anyway.

Crank and rods appear to be stock nodular cast iron. Everything looks pretty good too, except some unusual burn patterns in the top of #8. While the rest of the piston tops are smooth, #8 has a rough "crusty" center that spreads out towards the edge, but stops about a 1/3 of an inch in from the edge, kinda like covering a quarter with a nickle. Also, the #8 piston is discolored, skirts are darker than the rest. This must be the effect of the cylinder head coolant circulation problem.

MAC, I hope you don't mind my inquiry, but perhaps I've missed some current events concerning your car......I'm curious as to what made you yank the engine out of the car in the first place? Are you in the middle of a "Project"?

Birthday present...Patches turns 2 November 20th. Going to sing happy birthday while I light up the tires.

No big deal really, just throwing some of that steel forged crap together. Engine will stay relatively stock, trying to do things on a budget. I'm kinda interested in the wear and tear 411 after two years and 20K+ miles with me behind the wheel, so, I'll be watching the specs/tolerances on the stuff coming out. But, I'm not finding much to comment on so far, other than what I have.

Rods should be powdered metal and not cast unless they changed it for MMs. You should see that the line/cut separating the two pieces at the end (caps? - I'm drawing a blank) are not straight. The rods are machined and the caps are broken off leaving an uneven surface. The attached picture is the only one I have at work. But, it shows the surface is not machined.
