I need an air tube that'll fit with my PHP air box. I don't like the stock. It's Bling factor is crazy low,.. and with those ridges, it's a PITA to clean. :help:

Any Ideas?
Oh yeah,.... and I don't want to spend a schisse load of $$$

When making your decision, just keep one thing in mind:
The stock rubber motor mounts flex. So when the engine is reved under load, it will rock back and forth a bit, while the airbox is stationary. Therefore, one of the advantages to the stock tube is that it flexes and therefore can move right along w/the engine. If you install a tube that's rigid, then you might eventually have some issues w/the seal around the throttle body opening, causing an air leak.

I've got the JLT RAI kit with the PHP air box. Sounds awesome! I think he's currently giving 15% off. It also comes in different colors.

I was in email contact with JTL today and he stated that his tube will only work with his kit. I also have the PHP box. Does it mate right up? I would like to use his tube with the stock airbox for the winter, but again he stated it will not work.

I have the Metco air tube. High Bling factor, high price, but I'm very happy with it.

Well, two things....
The PHP box mounts on one of the factory rubber mounts, so it can move and jiggle with the engine movement.

The JLT tube is the way to go. I test fit one, in fact, I still have it....it doesn't fit (w/my PHP box). Tucker must have sent a longer 3" to 4" reducer to Rauder, cause the one I saw was trimmed with a razor blade to fit his setup.
Get the JLT tube Tom.

It was a customer of one of those tubes mentioned here who told me that he has been having a problem w/the seal on the throttle body opening leaking because of the tube he bought being too rigid. I won't mention his username since it would be up to him to jump in here if he so chooses. Otherwise, I don't wish to involve him for various reasons. Other than that, I don't have anything good nor bad to say about any of those intake tubes since I haven't purchased them myself. I just wanted to give people a heads-up about the possibilty of such problems.

That particular piece you speak of is of narrower rubber than the other rubber pieces. It is thin and must be adjusted just right to get the angle for the other pieces to mate correctly. I could see that being an issue.
I think a little spray adhesive to the tube before cranking down the hose clamp might alleviate that slipping problem.

It did take some manuvering, but it does fit. The tube sits at a slight angle off the throttle body elbow and fits just enough to clamp it on the MAF side.

Holy Schisse! I never saw that in the pic! 'cause I did slam the hood on it, and drove around with it for over 2 weeks. Dammit Brad! why didn't you tell me sooner!
anyway.... I like the PHP box, I'm not gonna buy Tucker's setup just to cut it so I can jury rig the damn thing.
Also,.. Billy has a really good point about flexibility... hmmm,.. I think I'll do 3 more shots of Cabo Wabo Tequila, and give this some thought!
I have an idea.... maybe....

it's $60 [includes shipping back to you] do a search for 'airbox engrave' and you will find the thread. [i make no money on this at all. It takes a few hours for the engraver to do; hence the cost]

I haven't had that problem as of now, but I can easily see where it could become an issue. I'm keeping a close eye on it for many reasons and that is one of them. I'm interested in how it is going to fit with a Trilogy set up.
