View Full Version : Doggone it... Gotta pull the a-pillar AGAIN

Finally got the gauges installed and connected on the a-pillar. Many, many trial fits and revisions to access holes. Now that everything is hooked up, I realize the lights have the wrong color caps on them. Oh, well... now if I can find the extra caps that came with the gauges I'll be ok. BTW, I guess the rest of y'all used the green caps, right?

I used green.

There is not enough slack in the wires to pull the gauges out?
I did not use the mounting bracket for the gauges in the gauge pod.
They press fit in nicely and I have had no problems so far.

I used the mounting brackets but could only use one of the nuts. I put access holes in the a-pillar cover but they're a little tight. I put the green covers on just a little while ago. Much better. Getting prepared for a blower! Fuel pressure and boost/vacuum gauges are in.

Got a few more projects to try and finish before the supercharger, though. Ported, polished intake with port matching to head gaskets and 62mm throttle body openings; water injection system (I want to put this on before the intake so I can keep it clean inside); oil separators for pcv lines (also helps keep the intake tracts, blower, and intercooler clean inside); tranny temp gauge (want to see before/after temps); tranny cooler (probably gonna need it since the intercooler will be putting hot air out on the OEM cooler); widened rims (already need those so I can launch at 2000-2500 rpm n/a).

A couple of other mods I'm working on unrelated to supercharging (cold air/ram air intake, front brake cooling ducts, cf radiator cover), and then I should be done modding this MMMP (Mercury Marauder Money Pit)!

I've heard that there's a new support group starting-up ... MA - Modifications Anonymous. *It's a 13 step program ( was 12, but they modified it ). :D

Installed my oil and Trans temperature gauges before SSHS4 and I am very pleased with the results. (I made 11 runs and the trans never went over 180 degrees.) I put a gauge light push button switch in the A-pillar to turn the gauge lights off at night. Sometimes I just like the lights off. FYI - the gauges lights are very noticable at night by passing cars.
