New Battery at 16,000 miles

Well, this is more of an informational post. Just letting you guys know that after washing my car yesterday I went to move it and it was dead. A friend and member of the site, RoyLPita, came by with a battery booster so I could put it in the garage. I used it again this morning to take it to the Ford dealership where he works to get a new battery replaced under warrenty. Some info to let you know where I'm at, car is a 9/02 build date, a little more than 16,000 miles on the odo, and Brian (RoyLPita) will have to help me out on this but the batt had only about 80 amps in it. As far as I know everything is now fine. I just want to thank Brian for helping me out, plus for getting me in and out fast at the dealership.

As for SouLRioT's battery, It was the least that I could do for one of my fellow MM.net members (and a good friend).

We just bought our marauder on 10/28/04. The battery died after we signed the paper work! On the dealer lot! Now I didnt make a big deal cuz I know the car had been sitting for awhile. I drove it home and around town the next day. On the third day the battery was dead! Back to the dealer for a new battery! The car had less than 150 miles.

Battery replaced here too, at about a similar mileage. Decontenting? Bad batch? Yet another quality-related mystery....

All replaced under warranty I hope, poor excuse for a battery in a 30 grand car, probably made in China.

Cruzer's battery bit the dust at about 20K as I recall...I swapped mine for an Optima at about 8K and put the Marauder battery in my 2.3 Ranger- still going strong but starting the truck isn't much of a strain- I think I could do it with a flashlight in a pinch.

Optima hasn't let me down after 4 years, and mine sits for long periods and I often forget to turn the fan off.
