First question for the group, . .
I have been told it is the compressor for the air bags, but haven't confirmed.
After my '04 has been parked for a couple of hours, and re-starting it there is a terrible vibration lasting approx. 10 sec. then quits. This also happens from time to time after driving and the engine is shut off.
This noise is loud, and vibrates the floor pan!
My '01 GM never did this in the three years I owned it.
Anybody experienced this?

Yes. It is the air suspension compressor. It is normal.

Welcome MM2004,
The noise you describe, though normal.May be louder than normal. When the air ride compressor runs with all doors and windows closed I hardly hear it and I don't notice the floor pan vibrating as described ,I am very accustomed to the sound so maybe that is why it doesn't seem very loud.My advice get together the next time a group assembles in your area. Or visit the dealer and take a listen to another.

I never noticed it. I shut mine off unless I carry a heavy load.

When the engine isn't running, I swear the compressor is louder than if it were running. Again, I plan on taking it to the dealer soon for small issues to be corrected, just wanted confirmation form the group.
When is a group meet scheduled around Louisville, KY?
Thanks.

You shut off the air suspension switch in the trunk? IMO that is not a good idea.
