Anyone know where I might find some double-side adhesive tape appropriate for attaching something externally to the car? Minimum of 1inch wide
I would be looking for a local source in Maryland.
Home Depot has 3M sticky squares but I dont think this will work on an external car surface where weather, water and freezing are likely.
Thanks

That's easy! Advance Auto Parts. There's stores springing up all over the PA/MD area. 3M makes it in various widths & lengths. It's not expensive and it works. Here's their website. :: www.advanceautoparts.com (http://www.advanceautoparts.com) :high5:

Yup!
Mike is right on. Get the 3M auto trim adhesive tape. It is usually in a roll, black, with green tape on the one sticky side. Sometimes red....
Putting badges on?

The white backed tape works best. Sold at real auto & paint supply houses.

Ironically, looks like I'll be needing some too. The trim piece between the two doors, on the outside, seems to be attached with this double-sided adhesive, and of course it's gone weak and won't hold to the body. Whoever thought of securing a trim piece this size (with several small such squares of adhesive) onto a smooth automotive finish in a place that is liable to be exposed to the elements should be shot, right alongside the Wiring Harness guy at STAP.

It's a foreign made car, but still a good car. :)

Cosmo: PM me your address and I will mail you some half inch stuff I have in stock from doing the fender badges and you can double up on it. Beats buying a $26.00 roll.

Well, to me, it's a local car. I'm at 50% right now... of the two Canadian-assembled cars I've ever owned, one (the WS6) has been the most reliable trouble-free car I've ever owned. The other... hmmm.... well... maybe it's a provincial thing? ;)

Thought that would get a laugh out of ya, the problems some of the Marauder has are nothing compared to some of the "other auto boards" listing of their car problems. And the Jap cars, well why they are protected it seems from public ridicule is beyond me, they have just as many problems that they sweep under the rug.

I agree with that statement 200% Merc. Before I got into the fire biz I worked in the parts dept. at a high line dealership in the N.W. Chicago Burbs. We sold Caddy's. Beemers, Benz', Porches, and yes the ever lovealbe *****box jap crap commie cars from Infinity, and Honda. I'll tell you that those jap junks broke just as much as any other cars that we sold and serviced. I think what sweeps the noise under the carpet was that when something major went wrong, and it didn't matter what the mileage was, it was fixed for free and the customers knew this. The Infinity's and Honda's would come in obviously rode hard and put away wet but as soon as the customer whimpered boom you can have the work for free. With the other car lines we sold if there was obvious lack of maintenance...sorry Charlie...pay the piper. There is no reason why someone with 80,000 miles should get a new engine for free when any moron could see that the oil was never changed but thats the way the japs choose to do things. I feel that some day this will catch up to those manufacturers and then you will see their true colors when they don't pay for anything anymore. ok now I'll step off of my :soap:

My mom bought a Subaru in the late 80's. After the 4th tranny in under 2 years she had to take them to court to get her money back. She won. Horrible customer service at both the dealership and manufacturer level. I found out the hard way myself with a Mazda truck. No rice, not again. I don't see what's so special. Fewer problems with my Fords and GMs by far. What this has to do with tape, I don't know...maybe that's how they held together the tranny:)

A cars percieved quality level goes down when the customer gets treated poorly by either the dealer or company Rep... Word of mouth is what did in the big 3 in the past, I would hope things are alot better now. I know the chrysler dealership my sister uses bends backwards for her and her 300C.

My dealer's been great, and that's probably one of the only reasons I've put up with all the quality snafus with this car. I figure, if I ever lose my favorite technician in that dealership, the car gets dumped in the nearest creek.
I love the car. I love the look. I love the whole idea behind the car. But it's pretty much the worst quality car I've ever owned. The only one that comes close is my GTA, which I've kept because it's still an extremely fun car to drive. And I can't keep two like them... I keep hoping every warranty visit is the last one, but it just doesn't happen. :(
Pretty much the main reason why I haven't modded a single thing on this car... I'm afraid it'll break something major, since it can't even seem to keep it's $#!t together in pure stock form.
(latest malaise: torque converter shudder during slipping or engagement... all reports on the internet point to eventual premature failure, which is masked by Ford with recommended frequent fluid changes and then the failure is pushed beyond the warranty end and.... well, you see what's coming)

When I need some of that tape- I stop by my L/M dealership's Body Shop and say ...hey guys ---"...how's it going...BTW, do have any tape I could use for such and such--".....Those guys are glad to give me such stuff....Tom
