Well Damn.....
I was driving from Charlotte to Rock Hill, SC today and put on my left turn signal at an intersection......next thing I know....horns blowing and what to my surprise....NO TURN SIGNALS!!! :mad2:
When I got to where I was going I checked all fuses and ALL GOOD!!! Still no turn signals!!!! :mad2:
Hazard flasher no workey either!!! :censor:
Anybody know where the flasher hides in these cars and if that could be the culprit???
BTW....It seems all other accessories work fine.... :censor: ??!!!
Help!! :help:

It could be as easy as one or more bulbs burned out.:)

All bulbs seem fine....Front and back all blink when locking with the remote so I think they are OK?? :bigcry:

1) bad relay
2) blown fuse
3) bad multifunction switch

1) bad relay
2) blown fuse
3) bad multifunction switch
This would be my guess in the same order.:o

multifunction switch if fuse is OK

1. What relay and where??
2. All fuses look OK!!?? :help:
3. Switch turns on the marker lights when headlights are on but no blinkers.....Hazard lights don't work either?? Seems that the "Flasher" might be dead...Or the "Relay" that signals the flasher. :censor:
It literally just stopped after working OK all day!! :(

when my switch went out all of the running lights worked, and they would flash with the alarm. turn signals and hazards would not work. fuses were fine.

hdwrench.....
Did the switch go out on your MM or another car??
The high beams, wipers, flash to pass all work OK. Front "curb lights" work when trying turn signals but NO BLINKY!!! :mad2:
I hate to take it to the dealer I bought it from.....They can break an anvil in a sand box!!!! :censor:

1) bad relay
2) blown fuse
3) bad multifunction switch
I would think that it is #3.

Multifunction switch failures are more common on most Ford products. I owned a '97 GM that the switch went bad on and it started working again. When I worked for the county, many of the "handi-buses", built on the F-350 platform, had the same problem, always the switch. There is no "flasher" per-se. This car uses a lighting module that handles everything on the outside lights.
Work the switch a lot and see if it doesn't come back. As I said before, my '97 GMs' switch came back and never failed again. I wonder if it had something to do with too much grease inside, I took one of those F350 switches apart one time and it seemed like nothing was obviously wrong, just a lot of that lithium bulb socket-type grease inside.

Hey MarauderjackI'm with the popular vote here(multifunftion switch) Which on my car is starting to ooz grease on the stick from inside . Does any one else observe this? I would think the grease should stay inside .

Well....
Everyone said the MFS was the culprit including the Ford dealer.....I bought one for $42.00 (not a bad price) and installed it.....NADA!! :mad2: :mad2:
The hazard lights don't work and neither turn signal works!! :mad2: :mad2:
The dang dealer can't even look at it until Tuesday of next week!!! :mad2: :mad2:
More Ideas??

BTW.....
They say that the only other possibility is the LCM (lighting control module)???
The LCM contains the "flasher" we are all aware of in older cars.....but it now becomes a $400.00 "flasher"!!!
The dealer agreed to get one by Monday and install it....hope it works!! :o
I don't think I could have two bad MFS's.....but ya never know??
I guess I'll just have to wait and hope nobody hits me or SHOOTS ME for no turn signals!!!??? :cool4:
Marauderjack :(
PS: I hope this isn't the beginning of an "electrical nightmare"......I had an Austin Healy once.....nuf said!!! :bigcry:

First off, I don't see the reason you're paying for this on a 2004!(?) How many miles on this car?
Other ideas? Try the grounds. I think it's either G201 that's behind the kick panel drivers side or G202 behind the other, passenger side that supplies ground for the LCM. Also check 103-4(?) that's the one going from the back of the engine block to the body on the firewall. Also G102, from the battery to the body on the fender.
From what I've heard, LCM failures are rare.

Jack - Could also be the wire harness in the steering column.

I'm confused too....this car isn't under warranty? If it is, why are YOU paying for parts?

OK.. I do not get it... If it the light module is doing the "flashing"... What is making that clicking sound when the turn signals are on? A relay or something??? I would definitely try to find what makes (or maybe in this case, what was previously making) the clicking sound and replace that first.

Hey guys....
Read the previous posts!!!
The dealers around here screw up more stuff than they fix and I figured a $42.00 "FIX" was worth not having to waste a day at the damn dealership!!!!!! You know the ole "Time=$$$$'s thing"??? I was wrong on the MFS unless two could be bad ??
I agree with "ap".....Whatever is clicking is probably the culprit but they say it is integrated into the LCM??? I think it is a relay somewhere but cannot find it...NOT CLICKING!!! I may pull our 98 CV apart and see if the "clicker" is in the module or a separate relay!! ;)
David Morton.....I will check the grounds...GOOD IDEA!!!
 Makes more sense than anything else right now!! What I don't get is the "curb marker" lights work fine with the lights on which tells me that the MFS IS WORKING??? :o
BTW....How do I remove the kick panels without destroying them???
Thanks for all the replys and help!! :D

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. I thought it might be the LCM or the multifunction switch.

Hey Marauderjack,
Thanks for the Info.I am not opposed to advanced technology,But who incorporates a nickle dime part into a 400 dollar Light control module? This is one amongst many instances that I have seen.
