Don't know if you guys have seen this yet, but here goes.
http://biz.yahoo.com/rc/030129/autos_ford_mercury_1.html

Less than 3,000 Marauders sold in the 6 months it was available last year.

Well now it is "offical" that they need some help.. Hopefully, the project won't be scrapped and they will get motivated. That being said with the financial status of Ford don't bet on it... We just might end up with a very rare car...

The article says that they are going to offer 3 new colors this year. I'm aware of silver and red, does anyone know what the third color is going to be?

The article says that they currently offer black and blue and would add 3 new colors this year.

Ouch......that article tears up the car pretty good.
With a very few owner friendly mods......this car rocks.
I guess I don't understand what those car writer types thought that they would be getting in a 4200lb four door car.

My car before this was a Lincoln LS...... nice but boring and it got car of the year in 2000.

My car before that......which I still miss.......was a 98 MKVIII and those didn't sell either. But it was and still is a great car. Before I bought the Marauder I thought that I might have to find another low mileage MKVIII to get into. For now I am happy with the Marauder. I got exactly what I thought I was getting. There are so many Mercedes, Lexus's and BMW's around my town I want to puke.......and I love driving this rare beast......it turns heads....the other cars all look alike and blend in.

American V-8 powered RWD cars rock ! IMHO

PS
Got my leather jacket today. Any car that comes with a leather jacket has go to be cool. :cool4:

aging Mercury Grand Marquis

Aging is a term these writers love to throw around. Sure Ford may not have done much to the exterior since '98, but the chassis is essentially all new. Japanese automakers change the sheetmetal, but do nothing to chassis or running gear, and the auto writers are all over it as if it was a new invention.

I think they plan on red.

It says 2910 cars sold from July to December. What about before July? I bought mine in May!

By 2005 many, if not all of the American car makers will have RWD 'Muscle Cars'.

In 12 months, the 2004 Dodge Magnum will be avail. Over 20,000 will be made the first year.

460 HP from the factory - HEMI 426.

13 second 1/4 mile.

Car and Driver pretty much gushed about the Marauder. If you don't get it, don't get one - keep 'em rare.

Told y'all about this a while ago, some of y'all got so mad, y'all called me wrong. No big deal, facts should be in print and back then. they were not. But, it's not new news, is it. Anyway, now we got dueling threads again...I love this site.

Thats what I like about Mac, presistent, consistant and just plain reliable!

And don't make the mistake of comparing the 426 HEMI with what Mopar is doing now or in the future, These two engines have nothing in common, the fact is by all descriptions our engines are HEMI's.

Uh, Jim Wangers? The same Jim Wangers that worked for
Pontiac in the '60's and was so involved with the GTO?

Don't they think he's going to be just a LITTLE bit biased against
anything Ford?

Especially with the "new" GTO so close to being released!

"While in concept it's a good idea, in execution the car is woefully short of anything they have any right to promote as a serious enthusiasts' car," said Jim Wangers, an auto industry consultant."

This guy is a stupid jerk........ Name me one other car built on a solid frame, can carry 5 adults, has a huge trunk, and is tricked out with the performance goodies the MM comes with.... I can't think of one. This car wasn't meant to blow away the competition in the 0-60 game. I think the 4.6 does rather well moving 2 1/4 tons and it gets going pretty fast from 25-80.... scary fast... The only other domestic enthusiast cars built now are the Corvette and Mustang Cobra, both of which are great but impractical for me.

I'm considering a 2nd MM.... 04 or 05 model...... (just to keep)

Johnny B If you don't know the man don't call him names based on a statment he made. I know Mr. Wangers , during the 60"s he worked for several advertising agencies who were hired by the Pontiac Motor Division to promote Pontiac. He also worked with Royal Pontiac which developed the Royal Bobcat GTO and others in the 60"s. With his help Pontiac was # 3 in sales in the mid 1960's. He is the author of "Glory Days". Check out his web site which is a link to the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) I think you may enjoy it. John :)

Also, don't expect the production Magnum to have anywhere NEAR 460 hp from the factory. If you do, I have some swampland in the Gobi desert you may be interested in acquiring.

And, um, as fr as the Pontiac connection is concerned, isn't that just what Racer just pointed out?

Mercury knows what they have to do, and I believe they will deliver, hopefully by the end of 03.

I doubt it, seeing all the cut backs on the 300B models...

Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't the Dodge Magnum a wagon? I ain't driven no wagon.

It would really be shame if Ford decided to cut the cord.

As the only full size new "muscle car" around in a reasonable price range, good sales numbers would give incentives to the other manufacturers.

Wagons are cool.

Yeah - wagons are cool, particularly when you're spanking a mustang GT with one!. The actual magnum will have 345 HP, you can bet the supercharger was auto show only stuff. Even with (only?) 345 Hp, it will likely stomp a Marauder, but not so if that Marauder has a blower. Hopefeully KB will stop trying to milk every penny and let us buy one separate from his $16k package. Or better yet maybe another company will step up and hook us up.

Personally, I'll believe the 345 hp when I see it. It's easy for manufacturers to throw around power figures B4 production, when things like cost/price, weight, mileage, CAFE, etc., suddenly become more important than ET's.
