Hello all,

I hope you guys and girls can shed some light on this problem.
I sometimes hear light pinging durning accelartion (I'd say from 2nd to 3rd) or while a driving up an incline (when the tranny kicks down).
It does not last for very long, just long enough to piss me off.
I have been running 93 and/or 94 octane, I did notice it more when I put in 89 by accident 6 or 7 months ago.
Here are the list of mods that are on the car.
SCT 9100 (Rienhardt programming) my understanding is that this is the corrected file.
Steeda U/D pulley (have not been installed as of yet)
180* stat
410 rear gears

It is not constant just ever now and then.
Any ideas???

Lock the torque converter out until 60mph or so.

Thats what Lidio did for me and I've never heard so much as a single "ping".

Good luck.

I would get on top of this right away. One ping creates 10 times the cylinder pressure of normal combustion.

IMO I would try a different brand of gas or at least another station if you have a favorite brand.

I run only Amoco (BP) gas. Anything else makes my car ping.
You need to readjust the tip in spark knock feature in the software if the gas doesnt fix it.

Hmmm... well I could always try different brand of gas, but for the other suggestions you guys offered I would need to send my programmer back to be recalibrated. I knew I should have bought the 1725 tuner.

Thanks

Your tuning is for 93 octane not 89 the car was not designed with this in mind and pinging can damage a engine if its sever enough and you do not let off the pedal at WOT so again if its not doing it with 92/93 octane your fine if not call me I will corect it for free
