I did a search and couldn't find anything. Has anyone else had an issue with the weather stripping around the driver side door? Mine has started to come loose. Just a small part along the top. Brought it by Ford, the dude said this happens to all these cars (Vics, PI, GM). He said to use some silicone around the stripping as the door grabs it when it is opened.

The little clips that secure the weatherstripping to the door are very poorly designed. It almost seems they get damaged on initial installation... either they go in and stay in, or they go in kind of crooked and they're ruined for good. My driver's door makes a kind of "shlop" sound on top of the normal door-opening sound, but the trim isn't excessively loose... I read here in 2003 (I think) that the rubber tends to grab the body surface as the door is opened, and can be ripped loose, so I think I will take the opportunity to lube it a bit. My passenger's front door seal is the one with the worse clips (ie. higher number of useless clips from installation damage) but makes almost no noise on door-opening.

It may sound like I'm nit-picking by going around inspecting the condition of rubber-retention clips, but I just happened to be inspecting the passenger door frame for a totally different reason, and noticed all the 'loose' clips (some of which only secure by one side of the folded-back 'T', if you understand my description). I guess a couple of pennies saved per car probably added up, over the long haul... I guess... ....
