View Full Version : Air suspension question - frequency of pump running

Hey all,

Lately, I've been noticing my air suspension pump running more than it used to. It used to be that I'd hear it every couple of days or so, unless I had a lot of people in the car or a heavy load in the trunk, obviously, then it'd run more.

Recently, however, I'm hearing it nearly every time I start my car. Should I be thinking about having it diagnosed for a leak, or is this normal for what you all are seeing? Car has just under 20k miles on it.

When it's cold, every time I get into it. Totally normal man.

And I am at the other end of the story....haven't heard mine in ages...

It's more than likely OK, and nothing to worry about.;)

As the car gets older..... the air suspension tends
to run more than when it was new. (Normal Operation) :o

Gotta Love It!

Don't forget that cold air and hot air have different densities.

We've noticed it runs more and longer in Mrs TR's 04 than my 03.

My 04's the same. Every time I start it. Actually, if I open the door and sit in the driver's seat for an extended period of time (answering the damn cell phone just as I get to the car), I noticed the pump actuated without the car running. Weird.

Mine cycles on damn near EVERY time I start the car.

Seems the car always takes a slight squat when you turn it off.

I'd really LOVE to hear an explanation OTHER than it's normal.

My 12 y/o 92 LSC with 4 wheel air suspension(all original) very rarely needs to level(only 8600 original miles tho).

The rear suspension(the original bags AFAIK) on my 64K mile 97 TC hardly ever needs to level either. Only time that car ever levels is when I make trips to WalMart or Sams & load up on heavy stuff like water - juice - cat litter etc etc.

Anyone have a legit technical answer why these MM's always need to take a squat when you turn them off ... more often than a dog that ate a can of beans he should'nt have ?.

Eric < --- predicts the air compressor in his MM is destined to take a dump right @ 37 months or 37K miles - lol.
